I'm sure this has been brought up multiple times, but what are people's recommended IWB 1911 holsters? Anyone have one in particular for a SIG Ultra Compact? I have to house the Ultra Compact but would love it if I could fit a full size in the same holster. I normally just carry with a backpack or belly belt. One is extremely uncomfortable and the other leaves me feeling like I couldn't get to it if I needed it. I'm partial to leather, but open to Kydex as well.

Any compelling arguments for an OWB? I've never tried an OWB holster since getting my CWP years ago here, but I'm so scared of printing here in SC (WY is open and concealed carry permitless so it's never been a point of concern for me).

Why the fear of printing?

For leather I like my Milt Sparks Summer Comfort, I carry a commander in a full size holster.
For kydex I just bought a PJ holster on the classifieds here. Its got a 25 degree or so forward cant that really helps tuck the 1911 grip inward.

My go to guy is @chiefjason here on the forum for all things leather. @gunbelt makes some darn fine holsters as well.

But I agree, don’t sweat printing. Just keep it covered and you are fine. Most people don’t notice even open carry much less a strange bump on your hip.

Printing is considered open carry, which isn't legal here, or so I've been told.

YMMV, but, I do not believe that to be true of S.C., like it is in Ny, Ct, and other commie states.
I'll do some more of my own research on that end then. I imagine either way that would be an extremely difficult policy to enforce.

Let me know if I can help. I mostly do OWB but do plenty of IWB leather too. My personal presence is OWB.

I use a Milt Sparks Summer Special III for my 1911 that I ordered back in 95' before using it in Haiti. Its a modified Bruce Nelson Summer Special that I still use on my CZ75 that Bruce made for me in 88'.

I have been carrying various size 1911s in a Comp-tac Minotaur holster for around 10yrs or so. Between that and my Fatboy belt I can carry a full-size and forget it is there.

All depends on the pricerange and how soon I move some used things on the classifieds. What would a normal one from you run? Nothing fancy just brown leather.

Ive got commander sized 1911's and full size. Ive got same in OWB and IWB holsters. OWB/IWB is a personal preference and whether or not you want to carry concealed or not (legality not withstanding). Im a big guy (trying to get smaller on Keto) but CC'ing a 1911 is a PITA in a IWB. I have a Miami vice shoulder rig that pretty darn comfortable but you need some sort of jacket or coat to cover that up. I like Askins Avenger sytle holsters for OWB that everybody makes a version of. I find the Milt Sparks Summer Special and VM2 style IWB too bulky but I have one of each. Most folks that get into holsters and EDC have a holster drawer full of holsters. They are always looking for the perfect one.

Let me know how that keto works, I could stand to lose a couple as well. 6' 2" 250. And not the muscle kind of 250 haha.

I prefer N82 professional series holster for my full size 1911. I have a pro series for all my EDC's except my 5.7. Unfortunately they don't plan on making one for it any time soon.

If I needed a new holster I'd hit up Chief Jason or Gunbelt. $$ for what you get will be well worth it. If you want to go somewhere else I'd recommend Tucker Gun Leather out of TX. Great quality and service.

There are a lot of options but I have switched to N82 pro tandem holsters for everything nothing comes close for comfort.

My go to are Milt Sparks VMII or Warbird Leather...

Warbird is making some fantastic stuff. Here is the holster he made for my EDC X9
