Nice, neighbor had one with woody vinyl siding!

Back about 1986 or so a friend of mine had a 1973 Malibu wagon, I told him if he ever wanted to sell it, I'd buy it. Main reason I wanted it was because it had swivel bucket seats and a console / floor shifter which for a wagon was pretty cool. Well, after about a year he called and I bought it. Drove it for about a year myself and then traded it in on a Honda Accord.

A year or so later I see a 1974 Malibu wagon on highway 73 in the Lake Norman area at a gas station for sale, car had the Laguna front end. I didn't have time to stop and ask about it at the time, went by the next day. It was gone, sold.

I grew up in wagons, first a 1955 Chevy two door ( not a Nomad ) and then a 1966 Belair. Sometime back before the Malibu wagon I had, I bought a 1966 Caprice wagon from a guy who ran the body shop at the Chevy dealer in Gastonia so you know it had nice paint. This was a loaded car, 396 engine, 12 bolt rear, 400 trans, PS, PB, AM/FM, cruise, tilt wheel, 9 passenger seating, roof rack, wood grain on the side, Reese hitch, for a 1966 model it had everything. All I did was put a set of 8" Corvette rally wheels on it and drive it. I really miss that car. A friend of mine bought a Caprice wagon about two years ago that is identical to the one I used to own, really brings back memories.

I love wagons. Always have. That one is super cool.

Cool car! Wagons are growing on me. I wasn't a fan of them aesthetically before, but it was super cool to get to ride in the rear seat facing backwards as a kid. Stock motor?

My wife and I were just talking about these the other day and how when was kids we would pile in roll down the back window, hang your feet out the back and head to the drive-in.

I wasn't a wagon fan either but I like unusual, rare & scary....after 7.5 years I'm SO GLAD to see the interior light at the end of the tunnel on this resto & IT'S WORKING! LOL Needs an exhaust gasket at the least, it's going to my mechanic next week for evaluation but it runs strong, shifts smooth & rolls on. Now Todd & his Pa Frank at Massey Chassis in Burlington will be spending some time on the super duty springs, shocks, suspension, blah blah in the next couple weeks ...it's gotta pull my skeeter eater (double skeet thrower on a '25 Chevy frame ....it's not that heavy though, I can drag it around the yard) and the 17' Burke trailer (which is the same length as the wagon BTW) with the tractor on it. The Range Blaza needs an overdue rest & overhaul.... Here's a pic of the side side gig!
