The new year is quickly approaching. What will be your goals for 2019? How will you get there? What matches will be on your schedule?

Will shoot SWGC, RPS and CGGR as my monthly matches. Will shoot SC State and NC State as my majors. Goals - Top 5 in Limited at local matches. Win B class at SC State. Earn the match bump to A class. Top 10 in A class at NC State.
Maintain Dryfire routine of 5 days a week, 20 min a session. Start and maintain a consistent live fire routine. Will be scheduling a class with @GByerly .

    Reduce Penalties.
Late this year I regressed a bit, I tried to push beyond my capabilities. The last 2 matches I reminded myself to shoot my speed and the results fell into place.

    #2
    M class
    Cant have it without #1

    I want to win.

I dont do this super seriously, but when I got 2nd in 22 class in the last PHA tactical match it made me want to work harder/smarter to be 1st.
    Just because.

Two places I could have done better in the last match (without actually improving my shooting skills)
-I forgot that AR22 mags are 25 rounds, not 30...when youre on a 26 round count course you feel like an idiot at the end of the only mag you brought.
-On one of the courses I should have taken a few shots from the start instead of going physically moving first. Wouldve shaved a second or two.

I need to shoot more, I will practice more.

If this was the 11/17 match:
What you need to focus on is getting A zone hits. Looking at scores: had you slowed just enough to get a better sight picture before breaking shots you would have slaughtered everybody in .22 division. By a mile. You lost 1st place by 10 seconds, but here's the skinny: You had 42 C zone and 16 D hits. The 1st place dude had 15/4 respectively.

Each C zone adds a second and D +2 seconds. Add that up. 74 seconds! A massive chunk of time. If you had converted just 12 of those 42 C's to instead A's, you would have killed everyone in rimfire and placed much better overall. Or, if those D hits were all C hits, again you would have won by quite a bit. Something to think about! Get that first shot into the A zone and your second shot will be right there too.

Edit: If I am looking at wrong match just ignore me lol.

Shoot more alphas by staying with the sights until the shot breaks.

Think I'll go to Battle in the Bluegrass. Maybe some Northern Mid West things.

Heard a rumor CGGR is soon over and moving the monthly to VIR, if true RPS becomes my only feasible local for every month. Guess that leaves a lot of practice time.

For the record in the 2019 thread, going to shoot for winning my division at a major IDPA match this year. Hoping to shoot the Carolina Cup and Coastal Carolina.

My accuracy is on par, so I need to try to find some more time savers. Probably keeping the gun up and on target before I'm planted, and general weapons manipulations. Might do me good to run with some USPSA guys a couple times to find the time I'm waisting.

    You are correct.

Also, I didnt realize you could take more than 2 shots, some of the folks were taking 3 shots per on some targets, I might do that the next time too if I am unsure of my hits.

I hope to lose 20lbs. I have got to start moving faster. Carrying around this extra weight is slowing me down too much and makes my back hurt. Get back into serious dry-fire/live-fire practicing. Move from a low B class shooter to an A classification. Learn how to accept more Charlies and stop wasting precious time shooting mostly Alphas.

    We'll see...

I think I will start by trying to find the motivation to shoot again. I unfortunately tend to allow those around me to determine how much I do or do not enjoy my time on the range. I need to fix that too...

Jason sent an email a couple days ago that said they haven't given up and the monthly will continue for the time being. Seems like maybe a contingency was being presented as a definite.

Just looking forward to shooting some matches with good friends.
And maybe stepping out of my comfort zone and trying some different matches, like 3 gun.

    1. Work a bit less, shoot a bit more.
    2. Shoot a match every other month.
    3. Take two instructional courses.
    4. Don't sweat the small stuff.

My main goal for '19 is NOT to bury myself with side hustle like I did this year, so that I can:

Commit to and maintain a consistent daily dry-fire practice schedule. No excuses.
Commit to and maintain a consistent weekly live-fire practice schedule. No excuses.
Attending every monthly match at my home range is another goal, however, this is still affected by my work and mostly out of my control.

    1. Make Master in Production. This year I'm going to treat the classifier like any other stage. Also, I'm going to forego checking up on my classification. I'm just going to go shoot, and when the M card comes in the mail...I'll know then.

    2. Increase movement speed between shots. Now that I've changed guns and some of my lingering nerve issues have been dealt with, I'm free just to concentrate on pushing hard every time my legs need to move.

    3. Shoot 35,000 rounds. I just shot my 30,000th round in practice on 12/20. This is a doable goal, I just have to get to work making bullets.

    4. Cast 40,000 bullets in Castageddon before the end of January. This might be the hardest goal for the year.

#1: Become proficient (C class) shooting Limited 10 (Major) left hand dominant using a single stack handgun.

#2: Work my way to B class Revolver shooting right hand dominant.

#3: Win my class at a level II match shooting Single Stack at least 2 or 3 times.

#4: Make C class in Production shooting an eight shot revolver, and win my class in Production shooting an eight shot revolver.

I figure that by the end of 2019 I'll have achieved at least two of these.

Didn't hit the mark in 2018, so 2019's will again be to take the best shooting sports pictures that are being shared on the internet. I've been spending some time at the range with the AR lately and finally got around to ordering a D-60 for it. I guess if I had a shooting goal it would be to shoot the Sir Walter Rifle match in 2019 with some friends. I would like to find a class geared toward that side of the competitive shooting world and learn some of the fundamentals as well.

    Learn to shoot better.
    - Actually dry fire a few times a week working on fundementals and confirm thoes on the range.
    - get good hits, run a pace that lets me shoot 85%+ A’s
    - to shoot atleast 3-4 outdoor matches as my schedule allows, but atleast 1 match a month indoors

would love to be able to push my Beretta 92 from expert to Master this year.

    How:
    1. DO not lose that front sight during multiple shot strings
    2. FOCUS more on trigger control (faster transition...trigger reset...DA to SA manipulation)
    2. tighten up the support hand grip
    3. STOP waiting for the sights to settle...get more comfortable with an acceptable sight picture while competing
    4. trust the draw and release the presentation shot sooner.
    5. Relax (hardest)
    6. pray (easiest!)
