Lets here what yours is. I'm still mulling this over and will post mine when I zero in on them.
I want a silver with gold inlaid gun with diamond encrusted grip! EL JEFE will be inscribed on the slide. Other than that I just want to shoot fast again.
This winter I’m completely rebuilding my shooting. From grip to sight picture, I’m altering/adjusting everything. I have not figured out goals as of yet.
I'd like to shoot a match or two this year.
I haven’t seen a post from you in so long that I was starting to believe you’d gone to Vegas and become a Show Girl
Almost the same as last year:
Shoot an IDPA match every other month
Take another formal lesson (shotgun?)
Shoot rifle past 300m
Embrace my Feminine side by trying IPSC
Yeah, I went full social media hermit. I pop in here when I've got stuff to sell...
Well it’s good to hear you might be shooting again.
I’ve never shot a match/competition or anything resembling a match.
This year, one of my personal goals is to shoot at least (1) introductory match focusing on carbine skills.
Come shoot the team match with me later this month.
I'd like to shoot 5K registered targets in skeet, 5K in trap and 5K of Sporting Clays. PS: ALL of these targets are MOVING..... Wish me luck.....
They should have a match where you get to move too. That would be awesome!
Great thread topic!! Here are the ones I'm looking towards.
IDPA - shoot at least 2-3 regional matches this year in preparation of knocking out at least one national in 2021-2022.
USPSA - chasing Master class classifiers, currently sitting at B class with my last two classifiers being high A scores, just short of M.
General Shooting Goal - working one handed shooting hard this year. Making it at least 30-40% of each practice session, both dominant and support side. Continuing to develop my concealed carry draw and reload, with an eye towards the MSP standards Black Belt Patch in the spring, as well as earning a FAST coin at the end of the year.
I would like to get back to where I was when I pretty much quit shooting matches a couple of years ago. It really is a perishable skill. I've noticed my times expanding at the one match a month I still shoot. I never practice anymore...
Not sure what mine are yet.
I am liking @FatboyFlash 's goal style.
You want to shoot, or shoot at that many?
winning open B at one of the sectionals I am shooting this year
Your goal should be to stop sandbagging and roll into A class!
shhhhh we dont talk about that
My goal for, going on year two, has been to make M class.
It gonna be tough as hell again, but gotta take it one classifier at a time.
PS-the targets may not be moving, but I Am
My goals are kaput. IDPA just made it harder by 1.5 - 3 seconds, depending on your preferred division and current class, to move up a class.
Too many "masters" maybe?
Masters don’t have to reclassify.
What frosts my flakes is IDPA says it has been done to maintain equity between the new abbreviated 5x5 classifier that got started a year or so ago and the original full classifier. The only trouble is they didn’t change the times for the full classifier, so now they have just exacerbated the difference between the 5x5 and the full classifier, which was the baseline that everyone classified with for years
I'm waiting to see the doc for my follow up after the knee surgery. If he gives a go ahead, then full speed ahead. If not...then I don't know what I'm going to do this year other than shoot 40,000 bullets.
Steel Challenge - A class in RFPO, RFRO and B or better in CO
USPSA - shoot my first match and get a classification, hopefully C or better
IDPA - shoot a tier 2 match
Get rid of the cane when you shoot.
Did it work for you?
Sure did. I got one of those knee roller things. It leaves your hands free.
So from reading all the above and really not knowing what all the types of competition involve I suppose I'm in a different type of program.
I shoot a CZ match on another forum and managed to shoot a 249/250 in the last match of the season which was much better than my 244 average. This year I want to move my average up to at least 245.
I dug out my old PPC gun a month ago and reminisced about the matches and group i used to shoot with 25 years ago. I couldn't find any PPC matches in NC but saw that there is a law enforcement league in South Carolina that I can shoot with. It will be a 4 hr. drive but I am hoping to go down at least 4 times this year so I can get classified again and see where I light. I'm sure 25 years on my eyes will put me on down the list but it is about the fun in shooting those matches again.
I have a dream.
This year FG is gonna come to the dark side.
He’s gonna tire of IDPA and try USPSA.
Drop mags with complete abandon.
No “COVER COVER”.
My club has paper and steel at 100, 200, 300 & 400 but hold monthly matches at 600 & 1,000.
I want to start with the 600 and eventually do the 1,000. My performance goal to begin with is all shots on paper and no DQs. If I do that, I can up the bar from there.
The way I used to grip the gun just wasn't consistent so I'm building a new one, more like most everybody else's.
No more support hand index finger on the front of the trigger guard. who do I think I am, Yong Lee??
Unless I change jobs, I may never get to shoot another match, but I'm practicing like I'm gonna shoot a match every week. If it works out and I do get to shoot a match, fine. If I don't that's fine too.
I will be a better shooter either way because of the practice. And that's the bottom line right? I can't let not making it to my local match get in the way of practice.
My goal is to place in a bench rest aggregate for the year. One club shoots 12 matches for their agg and another shoots 8. I can shoot 2 guns/calibers in the 12 match agg and 1 gun in the 8 match agg. Lots of opportunity. Good luck to all in their endeavors!
So my goals are still up in the air a bit. I saw my doctor and he let me know that my knee was shredded a lot more than I thought it was. I'll even require an additional knee surgery within the next year or two. So the running and gunning will have to take a back seat this year.
Goal 1 will be to get back into USPSA...SAFELY. lol
I'm going to cast 40000 9mm bullets.
I'm going to shoot all of them this year.
If I can get back into USPSA safely, I'm going try to make master class.
Thats it for now
And part of my goal for the year is complete.
The only thing I could do after knee surgery is sit down. So I did...on the casting bench.
My goal for 2020 is just to GO shoot a few matches a month.
Life in general just seems to get in the way of my plans.
Lemme know when ya ready fer it???
I'd like to step up to 3-Gun.
Have shot a half dozen or so 2-gun, plus carbine/PCC and pistol (steel challenge etc).
I'd like to find a good group to train and compete with. Unfortunately doesn't seem like there are many matches close to Boone, but a couple hours drive is doable.
Any 3 gun enthusiasts in the high country? I've got a private range, steel targets, out to 300yd, plenty of space to set up courses. Trade ya some coaching for a spot to shoot??
As of today, round count is 23,735. Ahead of my goal to shoot 40,000 rounds at this point.
