After trying some TRS25 knockoffs (all 4MOA) I decided to try this AIMPOINT PRO / Vortex Strikefire knockoff from CVLife on Amazon. I have bought stuff from this 'label' before and it's all functioned well on plinkers and range-only use. Similar ones are sold at Academy as iProtec with a crosshair retical instead of a dot.

But this one costs $28 (Pinty version even cheaper) and comes with a 4MOA dot.

Has pretty good overall reviews, uses older tech with a fairly robust size chassis.
I figure that low-end Vortex is made in China so I'm sure the patents didn't have to make it far down the street to whatever sweatshop makes this.

One of the reviews mention the included mount rocking a bit since it only has one screw. I plan on ditching it for my 30mm GG&G fixed riser mount. Mount cost more than the optic....

Hurray for Amazon next day shipping. I'm gonna mount this thing up to one of my shorty pistols.
Anyhow reading and watching some Vortex Strikefire reviews..........what were they thinking using a CR2 battery?
I think I am the only one I know that has rechargeable CR2s (for rangefinders) and a charger. Meanwhile CR2032s are $1 each or cheaper online and at Harbor Fright.

Mr GunsNGear mentioned that the original Strikefire had parallax........anyone with a older one that can confirm?

I'll tell you what, I have an even cheaper CV Life red dot on my AR9, and prior to that it lived on top of my x39 AR. So it's been abused. It still holds zero perfectly. I would for sure get another one of their products. You can't beat them for the price.

that's a giant picture of an airsoft rifle. I like cheap parts, but I have limits. what corners are they cutting?

If you're talking about CV Life, near as I can tell the only corners they're cutting is maybe designing their own products? I forgot that I actually have two of their products. I got one of their ridiculously large illuminated reticle scopes. That thing is pretty damn good too. Also my friend has a bipod from them. It's not awful either.

So how was it for the money? I need a cheap red dot for a 10/22 2 gun rimfire competition I’m doing next week

Decent optic. The mount is ass. So I just replaced it with a 1.5" 30mm ring

I've got a bipod or two from them. They do the job.

Look at the Pinty as well it's cheaper and looks to be made in the same sweatshop

(Bumping this thread instead of starting a new one)

Any chance it was this one?

Or has anybody else used one of these (sold under a variety of brand names)?

I want to try a red dot on the 410 AR firearm I’m working on. And I think a open reflex sight like that would be best. Don’t want a tube style or even a more hooded one like the Dagger Defense I have on a couple rifles.

I’m hoping it holds up, especially considering the 410 has a buffer that’ll take some of the recoil.

@Tucci454

In case you missed my quote above...is that the optic you have?

Anybody else used one for a range-only firearm?
