Anybody shooting a 204 Ruger?
If so, what do you think about it?
How would you compare it to the 22-250?

I will be reloading for either caliber. And would only be shooting paper and steel.

Screaming fast. Great varmint round. Pain in the ass to reload. I set the bullets on the case with tweezers before seating. Hands are to big to do it the normal way

Burt Gummer, What is the max distance that you have shot the 204? And what distance did you zero the gun?
Thanks,

Was my buddy’s gun. It was zeroed at 100. We’ve shot clays off of rests with it at 400. Killed skunks with it at 300.

Up close it’ll turn a rabbit or skunk Into vapor

@KnotRight it sounds as if you are going through what I did when I first started shooting rifles. I about tore through CZ's website and the internet checking out all the cool little calibers I thought might be fun to shoot at the 100 yard range. I almost bought a cool CZ in 222 Remington and another in either 220 Swift or 218. Can't remember. But I had willpower. Unless you have lots of time and money, or are hunting something specific I came to the conclusion that just sticking to 22lr and 223 are the most cost effective and abundant for target shooting at 100. I did buy a 22 mag lever action, but that's more just for fun plinking or any mean raccoons up in the mountains. I think some of those high speed rounds are hard on barrels too. Maybe just grab a 17hmr?

What distance will you be shooting? 17hmr does a good job at 200 yards.

This. I’ve killed varmints at 200 with one

ETA: and maybe a deer. Maybe

I will just be playing around with the 204. Back in college days I had 700 BDL 22-250 and it was a blast to shoot. From talking to a few people they are saying that the 204 barrel will last longer. I really do not hunt but want to hit steel at 500+ yards. If a 204 does find the safe, it will most likely be stilling next to the 300 BO that I only shot 3 or 4 times.
Also, that caliber might be easier for my wife to shoot.

I have been put on restriction by the wife, only one gun per year. That is unless I find a steal on something that I must have.

My brother loves his .204, it's the bees knees and all but I think a 243win, 223rem, will do for steel shooting. 204, 223, 243, 6mm creedmoor, would be fine for a lady.

I want a ruger bolt gun in 7.62X39 they are moa to 300 yds and would be fun to stretch it out to 400.

I have a CZ Carbine in 7.63x39 and was just thinking I'd take it out .saturday to see if I can hit steel at 300 or so. Guess great minds think alike. :D

Can you replace the wife and buy 2 guns? I think that is the solution. :p

CZfool68 you might be right but if I try to replace her I will be replacing all my toys. Not worth it. (I really have a great wife) But I did buy a set of Redding 204 dies and a trim case die. I usally buy the reloading equipment before I buy the gun. Will start looking for some brass and bullets over the next few months. That might be a tuff task looking for once fired brass. Then I can justify buying the gun because I have all the supplies.

That make sense, Right?

Sounds like a plan. We expect some rifle and target pics when this project is complete.

CZfool68, do you havee a extra bedroom for me ant that Wilson 204? Nice but a little bit out of my price range. I think that the 204 Ruger will become a popular caliber in the near future.
I am bidding on a couple bolt guns on gunbroker.
