I recently picked up a Mark IV 22/45 Lite to enjoy plinking, etc. in the backyard and I'm looking at making a few changes to it. What are your experiences and suggestions for upgrades?

What are you trying to change? Just make it more reliable or just add some bling?

Volquartsen and Tandemkross have just about everything you would need.
Reliability and function are most important to me, bling for bling's sake isnt that important to me.

Better trigger: Volquartsen and Tandemkross. Typically you'll be replacing the trigger, hammer, bushings, sear spring and sear here to really clean it up.
Delete the mag safety: this can improve reliability as well and on the MKIII was accomplished by installing a MKII hammer bushing. Not sure if the MKIV is the same there, I don't own one.
Delete the LCI: again, can be a reliability improvement as it's one less part for the bolt to interact with and one less place for grime to buildup.
Replace the extractor: Ruger's extractors leave a lot to be desired. Volquartsen, Power Custom, Tandemkross....

That'll get you started :).

The MK IV does still have the mag disconnect - so order the Tandemkross Blast Shield for that.
LCI - the MK IV doens't have this - thankfully.

My preferred trigger setup: Volquartsen Hammer, Sear, and Disconnecter paired with the Tandemkross flat/textured trigger.

Next question....
VQ has Mark iv uppers, blued on clearance for $40. The picture looks like it doesnt have a bolt. Theoretically if i put it on the 22/45 frame u think it would fit...anyone ever try it and fire it to see if it works? At $40 it seems like a good deal to me for an additional 5.5in barrel.

At that price buy 5.

Ahhh. Totally misread your post. I thought they were Volquartsen brand uppers. Still though 40 ain't bad for a brand new take off upper. You'll need to factor in the cost of an FFL transfer though.

If those VQ take off uppers were threaded, I’d be all over that. If you don’t care about threads, that’s a crazy deal.

And, as mentioned, but maybe some don't realize, the "upper" on a Ruger is actually the part with serial, so it's actually a firearm and will need to be transferred.

Seems like they can be had for around 100$. I bought a new threaded one for 125$.

Between shipping and ffl fee it doesnt seem to be that great of a deal. Oh well...

Yeh - I'd skip the upper. After shipping and FFL you're looking at $100 or more.

Those LT6 uppers that are on clearance are a good deal though. I think they are 20% off until Sunday. They are basically a Ruger receiver with a VQ barrel. I have one - tempted to get another.

Volquartzen firing group, eliminate the mag safety, red dot and suppress.
Four of us here were hitting 8” plates at 100 yards easily with my MKIII a couple weeks ago.
