My .223 77gr handloads are accurate but the POI difference between them and 55gr blasting ammo is significant (2"+ shift at 100). I picked up some of the 75gr wolf steel case because it wasn't that much more than 55gr and I was hoping somehow it was magically more accurate than their usual 55gr fodder.

Turns out... it's not all that accurate. BUT, the horrible group is centered around the POI of my 77gr load, so in that respect it's not that bad at all. Blasting ammo that's at least hitting reasonably close to where I keep the rifle zeroed for the good stuff is a win for knocking around at 200 yards or so.

Thanks for sharing the info. Sounds like my mild curiosity to buy some of this has been eliminated haha. I saw it years ago and thought, “maybe they made it more accurate since it’s a better quality bullet?”. Nope.

Hornady makes 75gr Steel Match ammo that might be an alternative for you. I tried it once in my competition rifle but only saw mediocre results compared to my handloads. I suspect you might see some improvement over Wolf 75gr as it's using a better bullet.

Have to check the pricing, that was the win with the wolf (had it worked). I'm seeing something about it being discontinued now?

maybe it would benefit from 'redneck match' treatment aka pull the pullets and weigh the charges and get them more consistant.

You... uh.... wa.... ok yea, I want to do that now.

So pull 20 and weigh the charges to see about what they are, then average them out and reseat them all?

I'd certainly be interested in knowing how it went! :D I've got a few hundred rounds of Tula 75gr along those lines that I haven't gotten the nerve to shoot yet.
