Hey guys! Can you give me any recommendations for .22lr-specific BDC LPVOs? I want one for my S&W M&P 15-22, but I only really know of one scope out there and it's currently out of stock. I'd really like to reach out up to 150 yards with it, but doing so without a good BDC takes considerable adjustment for each distance that I'd really just not bother with on a tactical-themed .22lr. I prefer first focal plane, but I won't put the cart before the horse. Thanks!

Edit: specifically something with a minimum magnification of 1x or 1.5x

These are just my opinions:
Having the closest you can get to true 1x on low end is most important factor for a LPVO on an AR for tactical shooting. Especially if max range is 150.
Optic will be on lowest or highest setting almost always, so FFP really doesn't get you anything, especially at max 150.

With strelok, or similar ballistic application on your phone (about 10$) you can likely get any LPVO with a BDC to work for you, regardless of what round it was designed for.
For example, the Steiner reticle below: you would just put your rifle/cartridge info in strelok, and it would tell you the ranges for the stadia holdovers on the reticle. Worth a look.

Yep! That's exactly the one, and man is it a great idea. I just really hope they make a FFP variant. And that I'm able to nab one when they come back in stock.
Are you sure you need FFP in that low power of an optic? It will make the reticle too small to use for ranging or holdovers at anything below 4x. I'd just go for the SFP, then at least the graduations will be visible/useable at the lower powers and you can do the math if you really need to (1moa graduation at 6x = 2moa at 3x, etc.).

Oh, it is definitely a want more than a need. A preference rather than a hard, fast necessity.

Unfortunately your requirements usually do not match public interest for making an item. Basically that is tactical optics in a rimfire. Rimfire is not a tactical ammo. Nothing wrong with exploring the possibilities but it’s probably not available.

Possibly! You're probably right. I really could just be the odd one out. But I do think my plan makes *sense* even if it isn't popular. I'm trying to set my S&W M&P 15-22 up as a .22lr replica of my 5.56 ARs for training and rimfire competitions. A lower-ammo-cost alternative to centerfire rifle ammo so I can get the same training experience in without the higher cost associated with 5.56 ammo. That, and I simply want the option available to train for rimfire competitions the same way I train for centerfire ones (albeit at shorter ranges because .22lr).

Find an "inexpensive" 1x4 or 1x6 with some sort of tree/dot/bdc reticle. Chrono your ammo and work the dope for your specific ammo drops.
I'm also working on some .22 stuff right now and I have not found a dedicated rimfire LVPO scope with the features you (we) are looking for. Being that it is a .22, you probably want a true 1x ( or 1.5x) for clarity up close.

This is the closest LPVO I have found for my applications

IMO, there is nothing wrong with this idea at all. It’s a good way to train AR stuff. Exactly what I would do with an MP, as I dearly love LPVO scopes and have moved away from red dots.

Any LPVO with a BDC will work. Just have to dope it out like Hashknife says.
