MATCH RULES:

1. Match to be run under rules closely following CMP Vintage Sniper Match rules (Match WILL NOT be CMP sanctioned)

2. This will be a 2-man team match fired at 300yds.

3. Course of fire will be 20 rounds/shooter (40rds/team) at 300yd using standard SR-3 targets. Shooters will fire an additional 20rds/shooter(40rds/team) at 300yds using MR-63 targets (600yd reduced to 300yd targets)

4. Rifles allowed will be any “as-issued” sniper type rifles fielded by the military forces of any country in 1955 or earlier(see list below). No National Match or glass bedded rifles. Two (2) rifles allowed per team, use them as you wish.

5. Any ammunition, military, civilian, or reloaded, will be allowed with the exception of armor piercing, incendiary, and tracer.

6. All firing will be done from the prone position, supported by front sandbags only. No other form of mechanical support will be allowed. No rear rests of any kind. Competitors may use shooting mats if desired.(recommended due to concrete firing points). Sandbags will be furnished.

7. There will be a 5 min sight in period for each stage, 300yd and 600yd. This 5min period is PER TEAM. Each team is to decide how to best use the allotted time.

8. Each team will be required to pull 1 rotation in the pits.

MATCH PROCEDURE:

1. When called to the line, each team will bring all needed items to the line. Rifles must be empty and have Empty Chamber Indicator (ECI) installed. Once on the line, teams will have a 2 minute non-firing prep period.

2. After the 2 min period, teams will have 1 minute to remove ECI`s and prepare to fire.

3. At the command TARGETS, the 5 min sight in period will begin. Teams can fire as many rounds per member as they deem necessary. After each round fired, targets will be pulled, spotted, pasted, and score indicated. Firing will cease with the second TARGETS command.

4. A 1 minute non-firing period will follow the sight in stage. At his time, targets will remain in the pits and be pasted.

5. The command TARGETS will signal the beginning of the record fire portion. At the command, targets will be raised from the pits and remain exposed for 15 seconds. After 15 seconds the target will return to the pits where a spotter disk and scoring disk will be placed upon it. The targets will rise again after 15 seconds. This sequence will continue until 20 shots have been fired.

6. After the sequence has been completed, the team members will switch places and the sequence will begin again, without a sight in period. Team members will be allowed 2 minutes to switch places.

7. Once both team members have fired 20 rounds, Teams will return ECI`s to their rifles and vacate the firing line for the next teams. Pit swaps will be made during this time if needed.

8. After all teams have fired on their 300yd SR-3 targets, targets will be replaced with 600yd reduced targets(MR-63) and teams will fire again.

9. Teams not firing will have duties as scorers and target pullers in the pits.

Drove up to view the activities but the gate was closed. What happened, a rainout?

Well...hard to have a match with 2 shooters. All the "we'll be there" guys failed to show. I'll try to put another together next spring, probably just a vintage military match and drop the sniper match.

If it could be worked out to where "vintage"/handicapped/overweight shooters could compete from the benches the chances of a larger attendance is a certainty.
