Condoleezza Rice, former Secretary of State and National Security Advisor during the Bush II administration grew up in Birmingham AL during the 50’s and 60’s. She lived there when the church’s and others were bombed during the civil rights movement.

Her father was an educator and ordained Presbyterian Minister. Below is From her book “Extraordinary, ordinary people. A memoir of family”. This is about a KKK bombing that occurred in 1963.

“As terrorists still do today, bombers exploded the first device in hopes that a crowd would gather. They detonated the second bomb—filled with shrapnel and nails—in order to injure as many innocent onlookers as possible. Fortunately, people knew better, and no one went out into the streets after the first explosion. Still, no one slept that night. When we got home, Daddy didn’t say anything more about the bomb. He just went outside and sat on the porch in the springtime heat with his gun on his lap. He sat there all night looking for white night riders. Eventually Daddy and the men of the neighborhood formed a watch. They would take shifts at the head of the two entrances to our streets. There was a formal schedule, and Daddy would move among them to pray with them and keep their spirits up. Occasionally they would fire a gun into the air to scare off intruders, but they never actually shot anyone. Really light-skinned blacks were told to identify themselves loudly upon approach to the neighborhoods so that there wouldn’t be any “accidents.”

Because of this experience, I’m a fierce defender of the Second Amendment and the right to bear arms. Had my father and his neighbors registered their weapons, Bull Connor surely would have confiscated them or worse. The Constitution speaks of the right to a well-regulated militia. The inspiration for this was the Founding Fathers’ fear of the government. They insisted that citizens had the right to protect themselves when the authorities would not and, if necessary, resist the authorities themselves. What better example of responsible gun ownership is there than what the men of my neighborhood did in response to the KKK and Bull Connor?”

Thankfully I could still get a group like that together today if necessary. We are able to take on a small roving band but would need a reasonable alarm time. If someone came to the end of our road to steal And was seen....he could Not leave. We have taken measures to tell if Anybody is coming.

Ms Rice is one woman I would vote for.
Not perfect, but I would vote for her.
But if you find the 'perfect' candidate then youre probably not looking too hard at them.

I agree though, I liked her as SOS, thought she had a good personality, and think she could do really well in today's political climate since she's a woman of color. She's smart, has common sense, we need more like her!

She is definitely a candidate that I would take a serious look at.

I do believe that she might not have such an easy time because she is a black women. It might make it a bit tougher. The libtards love to attempt to shame minority conservatives. Just another layer of BS to wade through.

Brother, it doesnt matter the skin color or if you got a dong or not, the left is going to throw crap at almost any person on the right

She would be the perfect candidate for the left, if she was a Democrat. But she's not, so she is reviled by anyone left-of-center especially liberals.

Me, I love her, always have, I would vote for her in a New York minute.

I think she was asked a couple of years ago about being in public office. She stated along the line of not wanting anything to do with it. And I can't say I blame her.
That's why I never believed the hype of Michelle Obama running for President - people who are close to the position realize how bad the position can be.
Look at the aging of the presidents over the course of 8 years, they look horrible.
Obama came in looking young and vibrant, left with a head full of gray hairs.
Same for W - dude looked energetic when he came in, and then near the end his face was much more wrinkled etc

Reminds me of the quote from Adams to his son, ""No man who ever held the office of president would congratulate a friend on obtaining it."

I don't think I would. I think she has too much RINO blood.

Hell I'd be happy if the next Republican candidate isn't just another rabid leftist with a different colour tie.

I suspect it's not going to be a very hopeful election next year. The whole lot of them are rotten pretty much.

I'm not big on this woman.
I will never forget how as Director of the NSA, she blew-off the repeated warnings from FBI field agents when they intently pleaded with her to address the Islamic Terrorist actions that were, unlike any other time, bound to strike this country just weeks before 9/11. The evidence is overwhelming.
"Yawn. We've heard all this before. Go away."

Three weeks later, 3000 Americans died a horrible death.

Y'all need to do a tad more homework with this one before you throw all your eggs in that basket.

This does absolutely nothing to exonerate her ineffectiveness as NSA director. Nothing.
Nutshell-
She repeatedly says that she received no information regarding an attack on New York and Washington. She keeps saying New York and Washington like that makes it ok since no-one ever specifically said Washington and New York, so what was I supposed to do about it?
But she does admit to receiving alarming reports of Al Qaeda determined to attack within the United States, as well as reports of Saudi immigrant visa abuses, suspected terrorists training in flight schools and many other disturbing situations like heightened activity within terrorist sleeper cells in the United States, as well as admitting that she and the administration were primarily focused on threats overseas, and not within the United States. She also admits to a willful inactivity in regards to military responses to already-done terrorist attacks like the USS Cole, as she believed it would have been counter-productive.

She consistently lays blame at the feet of the CIA and FBI since they "would not talk to each other". But she never denies that both agencies did indeed talk to her and expressed their concerns.
She then..gushingly..goes on that due to the astounding leadership of President Bush, how wonderful the Patriot Act is and the newly formed Department of Homeland Security and how this is exactly what the country needs.
We've all seen how well that's worked out.

Her entire testimony is largely an exercise in CYA and passing the buck. When uncomfortable questions regarding her duty as NSA Director pre-9/11 are presented to her, she responds with sanctimonious indignity that everything that was botched was beyond her responsibilities. "I don't recall" is an answer she uses dozens of times when there is no answer she can present that will justify her actions.

Look..I'm not saying this woman is the devil incarnate, but she is damn sure no angel. I think that 'our team' is so hell bent on finding a minority..any minority..to take our banner to the forefront of our cause that they will happily dismiss any disturbing irregularities that may appear.

I'm not so easily sold.

Well, at least she is pro 2A, which is what this thread was started about.
I sure didn't mean to take a swing at you Sc, and I apologize if it came across that way.
But this woman has some skeletons that alarm me.
I also applaud her stance regarding the 2A. All people are multi-faceted, and everyone has good things and bad things, myself included.

No harm, no foul (and thanks for the apology anyway).

Ditto your closing comment too.

The complexity of issues, and nuanced unknowns associated with being National Security Advisor are - to me - incomprehensible. To be in a position of being told “somethings going to happen but we don’t know what or when”, and having no concrete actionable intelligence of where the bad guys are, or what they are going to strike, or when the attack will take place - has got to be incredibly frustrating for anybody.

Perhaps she messed up - perhaps not - it’s hard to see the wheat for the chaff sometimes. I’m sure that someone, somewhere knows the answer, but it’s for sure not me.

I am pleased to see that she is so unequivocally pro 2A.
