...and it looks like it's unfired! Bore is brilliant, all the way down. That will change tomorrow. ;)

I wanted a Cherokee for it's 1:30 twist. All the others are 1:48, unless you get a kit and provide your own barrel.

The double set trigger gives you a super lightweight pull. It can be adjusted, but if anything, it should be a wee bit heavier!

Nice! What's the load going to be be?

Starting with 10 grains of Elmsford, to make a Quiet-32. For 32 round ball, it's supposed to range from 15 grains to 25 grains. I'll use nothing but patched ball, with a wee bit of wasp nest under it. No boolits, sabots or maxiballs for this'n.

Looks to be in pristine condition, judging from the nipple area.

Wall, it was windy, an' rainy, an' there warn't no squirrels...
so I shot it when I got home a few minutes ago.

News Flash! 10 grains of Goex 3Fg is Not a Quiet-32 load!
I'm surprised the sheriff didn't show up.
Guess I'll hafta try again with 5 grains...

Kinda gives you respect for the original loading of the 32-20.

Makes me want to get mine out. I bet it has not been fired in 35 years.

Modern Small Bore Small Game Rifles

The lightweight and fast handling percussion Thompson/Center .32 caliber Cherokee rifle was the absolute best shooting production run small-bore small-game rifle I ever hunted with. The rifle had a short 24-inch barrel ... rifled with a 1-in-30 rate of twist - and that rifle shot great with charges of FFFg black powder or "P" Grade Pyrodex - as light as as 10 grains ... or as heavy as 30 grains.
