Finally getting around to building my 300 BLK pistol so I can shoot it suppressed. You guys that are shooting a short barrel 300 BLK AR, is an adjustable gas block needed? I know it can run super/subs without it, but if I'm adding a suppressor into the mix, would it be advisable to get the adjustable gas block?

Thanks!

Mine is a stainless 8.5" from PSA. So, whatever it came with is what I'm running. I've only shot PNW 187gr subs through it and it works, so no real useful info to give.

:)

Edit: I forgot the most important thing. The above mentioned had all been with a suppressor.

I would recommend one. I need to change mine to an adjustable. As is mine runs subs suppressed fine. Runs super suppressed or unsupressed fine. But fails to full cycle with subs unsupressed.

Yes, if you want to run sonic & sub-sonic, and minimize the gas blast in the eye. Close the block down, put one round in a mag, fire. Did the bolt lock back? If not back out some and repeat, after it locks back, back out a bit more for reliability when dirty. That's the setting for that cartridge.

I got lucky with my 8" BA barrel and have no issues shooting subs or supers, surpressed or not, no adjustable has block here.

I have a non-adjustable 9" AAC upper that runs supers and subs suppressed/unsuppressed with no problems in any configuration.

My 8" BLK setup works with subs, supers, suppressed, unsuppressed. Factory ammo, standard gas block, and regular carbine buffers on multiple lowers. I must have gotten lucky too. There seems to be a lot of people that have issues.

I may try the non-adjustable to see if I can get away with it. Using a BA barrel, so I may be able to get away with it.

If you care about running your gun over-gassed then yes. I haven't figured out yet why I should care, so I don't.
