Getting ready to start reloading 300 Win Mag ammo. Was looking online and saw Amazon had 2 die set from RCBS for $34. Saw Lee had the 4 die set for $59. I saw the Lee has the extra neck sizing die and factory crimp die. In your opinion do I need the 4 die set or will the 2 die set work just as good. I am using single stage rcbs loader. I use my 300 wing Mag mainly hunting. I do enjoy target shooting with it as well a few times a year.

You will be fine with the two die set. You don't need to crimp your hunting ammo and always full length size your brass. I have Lee, Redding, RCBS, and Hornady dies. The only one's I have had issues with are the Hornady with a stuck case every once in awhile. Put the $ difference into a good scale.

Mine is a two die RCBS. Nothing wrong with Lee. FL resize die and a seater is all you need. Some seaters crimp as well but you can defeat that by turning out the seater die a turn or whatever the instructions say. Some old school reloaders especially with magnums will always crimp their rounds. In my experience accuracy will usually suffer a little to a lot. Some folks claim especially with magnums that w/o a crimp the bullets in the magazine (if there is one) will jump or move out of the case mouth slightly during firing. Ive never measured to see if that is true or not. I dont crimp anything except 223/556.

The (2) die set should be just fine.

Crimping is a fun subject for many to discuss. And the various discussions can get lively.

If for hunting,, you want total reliability. That includes feeding the rounds into & out of a chamber (daily safety process,) bullet movement under recoil, (possible,, but neck tension is the key here,) the type of bullet chosen,, (does it have a cannalure crimp ring or not?) and even the type of firearm magazine. A single shot vs a bolt gun can make a difference. SIngle shot's are easily used w/o a crimp, while a box magazine in a bolt gun can bang the rounds around a bit.

Lots of variables,, and it's a fun process to learn the things.

Crimp or no crimp - exposed lead nose bullets like Partitions or Game Kings etc will have their noses smashed flat from recoil in a box magazine.
Have to check polymer tip like Accubond etc but those rounds in the mag get hit hard with recoil from top end .300 mag recoil.
