So PSA has a good sale on AR pistol lowers so I grabbed a lower with the SB tactical adjustable brace for $250.

My plan in the next month or so is to grab a 300blk upper, from everything I’ve read 8-10” is the sweet spot for the caliber so I’ll Plan on staying within that length when I buy something.

As far as twist rates go pretty much all PSA sells is 1/7-1/8 but I’m not sure if one is better than the other, for now I do not plan on running subs or a can but down the road I may change my mind and get a can.

With all that said what do you guys suggest for an all around upper?

I’m still in the planning stages on one as well. From what I’ve read you want a 1:7 twist. Apparently 1:8 used to be the thing to have but everyone is saying 1:7 is better now.

I’m somewhat stuck between building one or buying one of the cheap ones from PSA. If I end up building I’ll probably go with a BA 8.3” barrel in an Aero Precision upper with their Quantum handguard. Just don’t know if it’s worth the extra money for a 300 pistol.

Mine are 1:8, so it can do heavy 208 grain (suppressed) and light 110grain. Supposedly that's why 1:8 is/was the better choice when I got it.

Thanks for the input guys, I have been resisting an AR pistol for years since I’ve always hated the fact that the pistol braces were fixed, now that there are very good adjustable braces on the market I decided to kill two birds with one purchase, I don’t have a practical use for an AR pistol or 300blk but it’s one of those “want” over need deals lol.

I’m looking into adjustable gas blocks, brakes and other odds and ends to tie up the build but I’ll have plenty of time to research and shop around, with any luck PSA will have the stuff I want on sale when I’m ready to purchase the upper, but my luck doesn’t normally work out that way.

This story seems familiar.
I think I put mine together <$400 last summer, still haven't put a sight on it or shot it.
Best justification I came up with is I can run cast, with junked 223/5.56 brass, without a loss of performance if supplies ever dwindle.

This is my upper http://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-...-7-2a-m-lok-upper-no-bcg-or-ch-516447557.html

I used a PSA NiB BCG with it and have had zero malfuctions in 500rds so far. The lower is the EPT MOE version with the SOB brace. I don't really miss the adjustment ability since .300blk has minimal recoil.

I love it. It's accurate with supers (147gr handloads) and 220gr subs. The rail is solid and supposedly 2A armament is a premium rail...uses the stock barrel nut so that's convenient.

for ~$700 including the optic (Sig Romeo 5) and a MI muzzle flash diverter, it's about all I want in a .300 pistol.

For the 1/7 twist, it shoots 125gr Nosler BTS and Hornady SSTs pretty darn well at 100yards. More accurately than my AK for sure.
