.380 pistol questions

Another SIG P230 fan here. Not too big for my pockets unless I'm rocking my skinny jeans.

I also have a Glock 42 .380 but I prefer the old SIG

Nice! I'm looking for a West German SL version now. Pretty much have all the other models that were made in the 80's.

I had a Sig 230 a long time ago and it is a fine gun. Wish I had it back. I have a G43 so the G42 doesn't make much sense to me since they're very close in size. The LCP and Kel-Tec are very easily hidden and work very well for me. I tried the LCP II. It has a nice trigger but everything else was just wrong, I'm comparing to the LCP.

In a state of boredom, I polished the stainless slide on my LCP to a mirror finish. Now, I think I'll dull it back up with some Scotchbrite or have my buddy bead blast it.

Anyone changed their mind on their 380 pick? I still like the M&P BG 380 with no laser. I must say though that I have several magazines and two are fairly picky while loading them in the gun.

I was very unlucky with my BG 380. On the third trip back, they confirmed it was unrepairable. I took a look at the new 380 Shield the other day at Jerek's booth. It isn't for me but I was thinking it might be great for my daughter.

Yeah I just don’t like the new M&P 380 either.

It isn't for me but, handling it, I guess it checks a lot of boxes for new shooters.

What problem are you having with the magazines?

To seat them in the mag well you have to slap them really hard a few times.

Will they seat easier with the slide locked back? Ever have problems with the slide failing to lock back on the last round?

My .380 experiences...
Colt Government model from the 80s. Ran great outta the box..no probs
Keltec..3 guns...none ran good enough for me to carry
Ruger LCP 1st gen....would NOT work
Ruger LCP current mfg...3 guns...ALL 100%
S&W BG...The 15th Judicial DEU Unit gave them out as Hideouts...3 here...1 worked..2 no go. So bad the DEU took them all up.
These guns were shot ALOT!!! The saying amongst locals is...if you have an auto that is 100%, take it to Battery Oaks.
Not pooping on all autos, just saying that by manufacturer, I've seen them all go belly up here. Most all problems with them can be fixed with a Tap,Rack,Bang. A small DA revolver eliminates the first 2 of that sequence.

Sig 230 or 232. Big enough to practice with and hit something across the room if needed, you can have a gun so small but is uncomfortable to practice with. Another plus is the sig in aluminum, or steel frame sucks up hot 380 ammo with hogue grips like a hobo on a ham sandwich

They seat and load once you get them to lock in the mag well and they hold the slide back like they should also.

My problem seemed to be either the mag release or mag well out of spec.

Really enjoy the Bersa Thunder (CC) 380. Probably not a "pocket gun," but can be concealed OWB under a dressier sweater or a suit/blazer for occasions where a double-stack compact might be indiscreet.

I am looking for a nice .380 for a back up carry gun and or a main carry on those summer days.

Let the personal experiences fly! I primarily carry 9mm or 40cal for concealed carry so lets not have any of the ".380 sucks" stuff. The .380 ammo of today has come along way and we all know that and my wife loves her .380 lcp but I wanted to explorer other options and opinions about them

Thanks ahead of time for everyones thoughts!!

Did anyone mention Kahr cw380? Cause all these suck in comparison. I like how that chick above flinchs BEFORE pulling the trigger

I've been a huge advocate for the CW 380 until I learned that there is some ammo mine won't run. Others it runs great. Then my mag springs got really squishy after about 18 months, and Wolff doesn't make any. Won't lock back on empty except with new springs from Kahr, or stretching out the old ones, which is a temporary fix.

Wonder if the extra power Wolff springs for the Keltec or Ruger 380 pistol mags would work with the Kahr mags?

I talked to the Wolff folks on the phone because I inadvertently ordered the wrong Khar mag springs, and they didn't offer a solution except to say they just weren't making them for the 380.

I sent an email to Wolff asking about using the Keltec or Ruger 380 mag springs and this is the response I got; "Mag springs are available. Please call 800-545-0077 to place an order."

I'm going to order soon and I'll report back on them.

I have a Bersa Thunder 380 and Ruger LCP Custom. The Bersa shoots better because it's heavier and a little larger frame. The Ruger LCP Custom conceals much better and honestly isn't that bad to shoot. Accuracy and shooting comfort goes to Bersa. Concealability and carrying comfort goes to Ruger. If I had to choose just one I would go with the Ruger LCP for the reasons you are looking for.

Edited: mag springs, not mags

Update: I got the Wolff Kahr 380 springs in today and installed them. The package reads for 7 & 8 round but they fit and function perfectly in my factory Kahr 380-6 6rd mags and my factory 7rd mag.

Hope this helps someone.

One year old factory spring on the left and a new Wolff spring on the right.

Let me know how well they load to capacity with one in the chamber. They're ten coils, just like the factory six round mag springs. This is good to know. Thanks.

Just checked all three mags and they fit and "click" in position without any issue with th mags fully loaded and one in the chamber. With the tiny slide release and these springs dropping the slide into battery on an empty mag should never happen.

Since I only have a KelTec .380, I vote for that. I can shoot it without getting hurt and it fits in my purse perfectly. Also, it's not too heavy on my person. It's going to be my CC choice as soon as I get my permit. It's easy to clean, too! What's not to like? Lol.

I have (had????) a .380 that went back 3 times for the same issue. The first two times, they claimed they replaced some parts and it test-fired ok. Each of those times, the issue would recur within the first magazine I shot. The third time, it was supposedly elevated to more senior techs and after having it a couple weeks, they wrote back to say it was "unrepairable" (ya think???).

They called to say they would replace the gun. That was 12 days ago. They still can't provide any information about the status of the replacement.

Maybe 380 guns are cursed?
Don't SAY that!!!
