3D printing Thread.

How strong are these items? I mean, I dont expect them to be like steel, but are they pretty stiff?

That I am not sure of. The mug handle has been holding up well. The socket holder has some flex but I haven't put it through the ringer.

The pod I made for my airplane I haven't complete finished yet. The pan and tilt I am working on is pretty strong but haven't fully tested it yet

Might be interested in having some small stuff fabbed up
Do commissioned work?

Here is one I did last year. The Teeth are a royal PITA, printed on ABS.

how did you get it so smooth and glossy?

Yup, but I didn't use anything. This was straight out of the printer. ITt is all about temps

Ok, got a project (posting this open, instead of via PM to see if MAYBE others would also be interested)
first - where are you located? May have asked before, but asking again for a refresher.
I ask so that if I had to bring something to you it'd be easy, or if I would need to mail.

What Im thinking is a small piece to fit INSIDE of an altoids tin that would hold a small ratchet and some sockets for my dirtbike or, well, any motorcycle or small tool kit.

Really, most of the bolts and nuts on my dirtbike are 1 of 3 or 4 sizes, I have a small wrench kit that I picked up from Cycle Gear, but its loose, no case or way to keep it properly together.
The sockets are together, but thats it. Ive been using the stock packaging to keep things tidy, but its not easy to access (not hard, but could be easier) and will wear out sooner rather than later.

Ive seen people create inserts for an altoids kit before, like one guy on EDCforums did a shaving kit for a tin.

I could probably draw a pic of what Im thinking to better explain.
If interested, feel free to PM me.
Maybe you could make several and sell some things

Now you made me want to fire up my printer. I stopped using it because of the noise: want to make a cabinet for it but have not woodchucking skills

Any of you able to make a small outline of NC?

What are you printing today?

on a job like that - with the amount of filament required, how much will it cost you?

Wth or without time included?

I figure it was at least 8-12$ filament cost as it ate up a lot.

Not even going to try and factor in cost for time. Cause I was doing other stuff while printing and had nothing else to print off.

I'll post a picture of the finished product later today

Thats a big dang bottle!

Are you mounting it to the side or front of the shelf or what? I know you mentioned freeing up space, so I figured that you would

Yea its the Aloe Vireo drink from the Mexican aisle at Wal Mart. I use to have the Coconut Flavored from the Koreans lol.

But yea, it is going on the side of the shelf. Once I find my screws I will get it mounted up and post a picture of it

Once you find?????
Come on now, you should have a nice bin organizer with multiple drawers dedicated to various screws. And then a bunch for machine screws and nuts etc :)

I forgot to check my mail yesterday afternoon, this morning on the way out I opened her up and had a package.
So rad!

Can I sand down the sides some where there is a little 'extra' on the bottom etc? Or would there be a negative effect to that?

You can do that.

When you Pm about it I though you wanted a outline. As in just the boarder of NC and not infilled.

Work on your leveling your plate and your extrusion multiplier.

The block for this took 28 hours.

you can sand it down with no ill affect. I didn't have any sand paper so I just took a knife to clean it up some. They are fair from perfect lol. Glad you like them

@Djstorm100 yea I tried to level everything up the best I could. Have an issue with one of the verticals rods and a retainer plate that I didn't catch till after them prints.

I'll take a look at the extruded multiplier as I haven't really changed many settings since inital set up

I haven't yet read this thread yet, but will soon. Joining the discussion because I just bought this MakerBot Replicator clone. It has very high reviews (4.7/5) for quality and support. So far, the pre-sale assistance from QIDI has been great. I should have it in about a week from Los Angeles warehouse.
