My wife's MI carry license expired at the end of may and mine expired in late June.
I also had a little thing that miiiiight have been an issue from 5 years ago that hit the 5yr mark in early june...
so anyway, we put in all our info and picked our "appointment" dates so our local sheriff (Cumberland) can decide if we're of good moral character.
November 19-20 were the first available dates.

5 months of delayed/denied rights to decide if i can exercise a right which "shall not be infringed".

Not cool, NC. Not cool.
MI is a "shall issue" state and we got our licenses up there in under a month.

I’m at 4 months with Durham. I’m calling them tomorrow to find out WTF they gonna finger print me.

anyone know if wake co is printing at moment?

I haven’t been as anxious about it since I’m already covered with prior state license but I just want it off my to do list already

NC is a shall issue state. They shall issue it to you unless you are not allowed by law to have one. You do not have to give a reason for getting one other than something like self protection. You got your license in that other place 5 years ago when there was not a rush on them because of all the civil unrest. I agree that there should not be any type of permission needed to exercise our rights, but there were some in place in the place you left to come here. If you find that NC is not as cool as you hoped it would be, MI is still there.

Just FYI... open carry is an option in NC. Not for me, but to each his own. No permit needed.

Color me cynical but I'm guessing next we will be hearing about the LITTLE THING that stopped you from getting a CHP here in N.C.

tailgating. open container in public. pretty victimless. So victimless that it was changed to impeding traffic if i signed an agreement not to sue the police over how they handled things.

yep. already doing that. thanks though.
it actually seems to be pretty common, which is nice.

Nuts how some are taking two weeks or less and bigger cities 5 months. Pure laziness on the part of the head sheriff. If he has a backlog then he should be resigning personnel to help. Considering the areas you guys are in seems they don’t give a damn. I’m glad I don’t live in those counties. Their reviews under their current sheriff are horrible.

My oldest son picked up his first permit last week, 40 days from the day he scheduled his fingerprint appointment.
