Wonder how the 7th would have done at the Little Big Horn with these instead of the 1873 carbine. Less range but higher volume of fire.

Its an interesting debate in the "What If" moments for sure.
The amount of fire that the Spencer could bring given how close the fighting got would have certainly made some impact, but it will never truely be known if the Spencer could have made up the difference given the numbers gap between Custers 280 men and the 1500 Indians charging him.

True but the 7th had a 25% attrition as soon as they stopped due to one in four as horse holders. The Spencer could've helped a bit. Perhaps enough to make a fighting withdrawl if the command hadn't gotten so separated and strung out due to fire superiority on the part of the Indians. A topic for another discussion at another time.
