6.5 Grendel best choice for deer/hogs?

Economical as far as AR hunting calibers for a .223 lower?

Hunting ammo is expensive unless you reload. Just like every other boutique AR caliber. There's always Wolf Steel 100gr for plinking, but
it costs the same as 7.62x39.

I hunt with 60+ gr .223 soft points out to 200yds with no issues.

Hogs too?

You have hogs? I hunt at Pee Dee Wildlife where the hogs aren't as big as the deer so yeah, no problem.
Premium bullets and long barrels = dead stuff

I’m looking for something I can use for both. I’d love to go on a hog hunt eventually.

6.8SPC is a hammer on deer & supposed to be big medicine on hogs as well. ~ $1.00/rd for hunting ammo. No idea what 6.5G hunting ammo runs, but either is packing more than enough heat for your purposes.
Take a look at the 6.8 forum. They really like the 6.8 for hogs. I stopped using my bolt action .308 and strictly use my 6.8 on deer.

Haven’t got to slay any hogs with my Grendel yet, but when I do my load of choice is going to be 123gr Hornaday SST. From everything I’ve read it seems to do the job well and isn’t terribly expensive. I’m supposed to be doing a Helicopter hog hunt early next year in TX so I should get plenty of opportunities to try that load out during it.

I don't own a 6.5, but I am a fan of the SST bullet.

The 6.5 Grendel is well suited for hogs - I harvested a 225lb beast @ 75 yards and dropped him with one shot with a hornady 123grn SST. My buddy took his with the same round the next day (one shot one kill)

Ive been killing the crap ton of yotes with my Grendel, so much my buddy sold his Valkyrie and bought one. One shot stop. Very pleased with it. I use the 123 gn Hornady Custom ammo they have. (Tan box) My buddy used the Hornady Black, very accurate, but different bullet..... didnt plant them. He switched to the Custom I was shooting.
