So long story short, the factory vgt turbo on my Ram has decided it only wants to cooperate when it wants too. Pretty common problem, the veins get sooted up due to the factory egr/emmisioms crap and it eventually burns up the little electric actuator that controls the vein position. I bought the truck a year ago and have been "deleted" electronically ever since but 150,000 miles of soot had already accumulated so it's demise was beyond my control. Pretty crappy timing as I had other plans for my tax return, but glad never the less to be able to take care of it right away.

The fix/upgrade:

Fleece Performance 2nd gen swap kit with a s463 turbo. Still waiting for my Steed Speed manifold to arrive (2-3 weeks from order date to ship date......ugh)

I do have a egr delete kit that's been sitting on the shelf for 6 months that I'll only need like one or two parts out of now that I'm going this route, but it'll allow me to get rid of the throttle valve and remount the dipstick with a new bracket.

Also going to get rid of the just-replaced $150 CCV filter (again, uhg) and make it a straight breather with a dump tube like the older 5.9 Cummins.

Not sure how much interest there'd be on this forum but I figured I'd share and update with before/after pics when the rest of my goodies get here.

Don't ya just love government mandated emissions equipment...

Man, I wouldn't have had half these problems/expenses if I'd only listened to my friends who told me to get an older 5.9 truck...lol

My super scary 6.0 runs just fine without all the emissions crap choking it. Been one of the best vehicles I've owned.

Rat Rod truck. 1951 ford F1 cab, Dually rear end, RE47rh transmission. Open front wheels on air bags.

I'd like to see that when it starts coming together! I'd also love to have a 12v ve or p-pumped 5.9 to put in a shtf vehicle...

They're actually pretty tough engines once you address the weak points (egr cooler, head gasket/bolts) Did you do head studs when you deleted?

Nope. I figured I'd address them when needed, and they ain't been needed in 10yrs.

Be intrested as well. Do you lose the exhaust brake going to the fleece?

You do, but there's aftermarket options out there that you can add in your exhaust. Mine didn't work since I got the truck so I won't know what I'm missing.
