How is everyone doing? Hope all are safe and sound. Holler out here if you need help. Folks are willing to help if you ask.

I’m fine here. I fired up my genie using the genie plug / manual disconnect. I need a bigger genie though…can’t run a/c. Seems to be running well otherwise.

I have another 3500 genie if anyone wants to borrow it.

Got hit pretty hard in high point(where I work) this afternoon with 50-60 downed tree calls.

Where I live in climax also got hit pretty hard. Sporadic power outages. LOTS of trees down. I met an older woman this evening that lives behind us that I had never met. @Lil D and I cleared half a dozen trees out of her driveway with a saw, tow strap, and 4wd so she could get to her dr appointment tomorrow morning.

Power was off for a bit. Came back on here after about an hour. If anyone needs anything, reach out

We didn't lose power but a lot of people around us did. Kids sent home from work early because Chick-fil-A lost power. A lot of small branches down, local road closed from tree across.

We lost power for bit but not even long enough to pull genie outta garage.

I’m approaching 4 hrs so I pulled it out to test out the plug / switch. Good test and happy to say it works as expected.

I may buy a longer cord to get the genie 5’ further from the house. It’ll help with noise.

Hope u get it back soon. I had a 25’ cord but went ahead and got a 50’ cord too so I could put it beh8nd the house and under the patio in inclement weather and so not as noisy.

We lost power for less than a hour so not too bad. Lightning struck the barn at the in laws. Apparently it messed it up. May have to go over after shift n help out. But being a rental maybe the land lord will take care of it.

Good on you and @Lil D

After losing power in summer for 10 days after a hurricane a lifetime ago, I bought a window unit that I keep for me or the two households of spawn close by that can run off a typical gen set.

I have one of those portable “room units” but it’s a pain to set up with size of the unit, exhaust duct and drain. If we go late, I’ll set it up to cool off the living room.

My luck will have me all set up only for power to come on as I power it up!

That’s why you set it up early, to make sure the mains come back. By waiting you’re inconveniencing hundreds or maybe thousands of other homes.

Which is why mine is still new in the box. LOL

My wife's at the camper in WF, my son & his family are a mile away with three young kids in a small dark, very warm house.

My kids had fond memories of these natural disasters. I didn’t know that till they were grown.

It’s only the parents who need therapy afterwards, apparently.

I usually don't roll out the welder/generator until 5-6 hours without power for food's sake. Until that point we're in 'camping mode' with candles and flashlights.

I've got a 5k window unit new in box. I don't expect I'll ever set that up unless I'm facing days without ac or power. It's too complicated to use for just an hour.

I had to make daughters lunch and prep some other food, so the fridge was opened several times…forcing my hand.

Kids sleeping in their own rooms. Wife and I doing best we can to stay cool in family room with fans.

I bought mine when the wife forbid me to buy the whole house generator.

Then I threatened to buy another bike (in all seriousness), and she said, “Why don’t you just buy that whole house generator??"

Lost power here for maybe an hour: 1400-1500. Went off literally as the pasta had finished cooking so we had a 'candlelight dinner.'*

That was with round #1. Three separate lines came through, but the worst seemed to miss us with the latter two. Lots of thunder, though, with all three.

*we try to follow a partial fasting routine: a mid-morning breakfast and main meal ~ 1400 or so. How those three chocolate stripe cookies ended up next to my chair a few minutes ago is a mystery.

For a change we did not lose power but apparently accross the street it’s still out.

We’re served by two different legs from the PoCo.

No damage here except for one tree limb. We had inch size hail and 1” of rain in 10 minutes.

Oh and that was probably some of the worst wind I’ve seen in a long time.

Lost partial power here from about 4:30 to 6:30. Shop has 3ph and it got single phased. Fortunately the leg that the travel trailer (our temporary home) is on stayed up. House went to generator. I have definitely concluded that I am going to put a whole house generator in with this renovation. Enough of this unreliable power nonsense.

Near RDU, ATT fiber out about four hours, power stayed on. No rain but high winds for a few minutes.
