Need some help guys, I am finishing up a build that finally finishes the shop roof my late BIL built but never finished the center of the roof. Here is my quandry: I have completely shingled the roof and put the ridge caps on but at the very top it looks like crap and I cant figure out how to finish the peak using shingles. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Need to move on this as it is supposed to rain this weekend and I really dont want water running in .

Tagged. Sorry, not my wheelhouse.

You're using asphalt shingles ?.

Cut a piece of roll roofing or copper into a pattern like this ( try it with a cardboard first ). Put the seam at the back and seal with blackjack . Put a dab on the nail heads too.

I made an attempt to make a cardboard model of what I need however I failed in that I could only get 6 sides to work. 8 of the wedges wont work. Obviously the dimensions are all wrong but I'm not smart enough to figure out the math,

Well then measure correctly and cut one with eight sides ...
Put 2 straight edges on 2 of the ridges, slide them up until they touch at a peak. Then measure the run ( from peak ) to where ever you want it to stop. And then across the bottom between the two strait edges.
Wahla ! ... Measurements.
