The cow was photo'd a couple days ago on the road into our development and the bull just this morning on my road.

Straight line distance between my place and Cataloochee valley (GSM NP) is 38 miles. Up and over the mountains on other side of the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Looks like some dinner to me!!

That is awsome. I've never been out west but couple years ago we went from Pigeon Forge over to Cherokee and stopped in Cataloochee. Saw about 20 of them. Got some great pictures of some very nice bulls. Thanks for sharing.

If they start causing issues call NCWRC. Might be worth letting them know they are around anyway. They have made it to GA and SC before. But that was back when they would come and get them to return to the park. I don't think they are doing that anymore.

Wonder if the collar on the cow still works? She's and old one. They stopped collaring elk several years ago. Maybe even longer for cows.

We had two bulls and a cow crossing a pasture 1/4 mile from home in Waynesville the other week. Pictures are posted in the trail cam thread. Friend of a coworker got a pic of them a few days later in the Bethel area. They definitely get around Haywood county.

You guys are hilarious.

Y'all should see the HOA email thread we have going on...the Karens are strong in Western NC.

"This is outrageous! These are dangerous wild animals that need to be taken back where they belong!"
"I don't feel safe walking in the evening!"
"I have contacted the authorities!"
"The NC WRC doesn't even seem to care! They told me they 'were aware'! Uggh...I have contacted their supervisors"
etc. etc. etc.

Sounds like someone moved to the wrong neighborhood!

Well, they can be dangerous if you mess with them. A pissed off 1000lb bull will stomp your ass! Those Karen's are really going to mad when they find out how much more of their nice landscaping elk can eat compared to a whitetail!

If you don't offer to shoot it for them just to get a reaction we are revoking your man card. :D

They regularly trash the neighbors garden... but hey. They’re elk. We’re happy to see them around.

Wonder were you toss the collar after you skin her out?

Oh, I thought you were talking about these: ;)

no Elk season in NC, after 3 consecutive years after the WRC promised to institute one.

Sad state that we've gone from permitted unless specifically excluded to excluded unless specifically permitted.
