Before I pull the trigger on an A300 Patrol from Bereli - has anyone here bought one, shot it, and regretted not getting the 1301 instead?

I have a LTT 1301 en route and can’t help but wonder if an A300 Patrol is the better buy for half the price (or even $500 less than a normal 1301).

Every YT review and forum post I’ve seen so far has been very positive about it performing well and being an excellent value. If I wasn’t willing/able to spend the money for a 1301, I’d grab an A300 Patrol.

Wonder if anyone has both, since the A300 Patrol is so new.

Considering you can get one for just over $900 with coupon code through Bereli right now, I'm having a REAL hard time justifying the advantages of a 1301 with everything that comes standard on the Patrol. It's not like I'm ever going to be able to outrun the gas system, even if its not the Blink.

A300 is basically the old a391. Action isn't as smooth and obviously slower cycling than the 1301. They are both great guns and easy to disassemble.

If a stupid buttery action is not your kink, a300 patrol is the way to go money wise.

If it goes bang every time and cycles the next round, I'm happy.

This is, in part, an HD gun that the wife can feel comfortable using/manipulating. She's more comfortable with a shotgun for HD than an AR platform or CZ, but she needs a red dot and a shorter LOP which my Nova doesn't have.

Also, I just really want an SA shotgun.

Jump on the a300 then. I have a Franchi intensity. It's way slower than the two you are considering and I cannot outrun the action. There definitely is something about the a400/1301 and how polished it is. But $900 for a quality semi with a widened loading port, and enlarged controls is a hella deal.

iirc you can adjust the cast/drop as well on the a300.

If you a a hardcore shotgunner i.e. do 3 gun, go to tactical shotgun clinics or are going to shoot more than 1000 shells a year get the 1301.
If you want a really nice tactical shotgun for home defense, occasionally training the A300 is the way to go.
I have a 1301 LE and I love it but I cannot justify the extra $500 to the typical shooter.

Recently picked up the a300 ultima patrol in gray, only shot once with about 40 rds. Fed buckshot and walmart federal birdshot no problem. The polymer barrel/mag tube clamp did work loose and when cleaning I noticed the bolt release pin was protruding about a 16th of an inch towards feed chamber. Could have been that way when I got it and didn't notice. But she runs just fine. Can't compare to 1301 because never shot one. So far so good.

I tightened her down pretty good when I put back together so we'll see if she holds. Is the 1301 clamp metal or plastic?

Yup, it’s plastic, same as the 1301. GG&G makes a metal tube cap and clamp combo for $76. They don’t specify that it works on the A300 but I would bet it does.

This is the first review I’ve seen that is critical of the Patrol. However, I feel his biggest gripes are also found on the 1301.

I have this GG&G tube on my 1301 if anyone has questions.

I pick up my 1301 Friday, the GG&G tube is the only “mod” I’m considering right now due to less-than-stellar reports about the plastic tube.
Do you feel the GG&G is worth the $76?
Do you know if there is a way to add a rail section or QD point to the GG&G clamp? Still trying to determine best way to mount a TLR-1HL and sling.

Have you had any issues with it walking? Part of me is debating just throwing some rubber tape on the plastic jobber and calling it a day.

ha ha. I haven't shot this gun ever. The one thing I can't speak to. Here's a picture.

Thanks. At a minimum it looks like you should be able to crank down on it pretty hard without yanking the threads out like the inserts on the stock piece.

See the photo I posted. There's a way to use the cover tube to pinch in a piece of rail...see the Inforce light? $76 is expensive-ish, but I wanted it to not be plastic. It feels very high quality.

When i look up the ultima it says 19.5" barrel and the 1301 is 18.5". Is that a typo?

Edit- 18.7 vs 19.1 ?

Picked up the shotgun today. Action and trigger feel nice, good ergonomics. Biggest gripe by far is the quality, or lack thereof, with regards to the stock materials. The plastics, while textured as aggressively as shark teeth, feels remarkably cheap in a $1000 gun. Like, my Benelli Nova at less than 1/2 price absolutely smokes the feel of the plastics. If Magpul ends up making a stock for this one, I'll grab it in a heartbeat. The fore end is much more tolerable than the buttstock IMO.

I did hear that in several reviews. They claim it's fairly durable, but feels on the cheap side.
I don't feel like its going to just break off or have any issues during normal use or drops, but it doesn't fit flush against the insert for the butt pad (you have to pinch the sides for it to make contact), and the little press fit piece under the grip moves around some and makes a clicking noise. I wouldn't exactly use it to beat down a door, FWIW.

Two other things I noticed:

1 - was in definite need of lube out of the box. Parts of the gun were oily, just not the right ones.

2 - felt a very noticeable clunk when holding the gun by the grip alone. Sure enough, some side to side play. Popped the butt pad off, sure enough, the locknut that retains the cast shims was loose as a goose. Guess that’s what happens when you get Americans to build an Italian gun 🙄

Looks good! (Minus the crocs of course 😆)

While I’m excited about my 1301 I have to say I’m a little disappointed that the A300 gets the feedport work and “flagship” 1301 doesn’t. Can’t imagine why they made that decision since the 3rd Gen 1301 and A300 had to be on the drawing board at the same time.

I saw you got a couple Protacs, if you’re planning on mounting one of the A300, I’d love to see some pics of how low profile it is. I was in PSA Denver yesterday and noticed that the 640lm model looked pretty small and might even be lower profile than a TLR-1HL on an offset mount. I also like that they come with a tape switch, considering the price point.

This is what the 88059 looks like mounted with the stock mount and a pic rail section. Surely you could buy a fancy Arisaka or some other sort of offset mlok mount and be somewhat lower profile, but this fits the bill for me.

Thanks! Exactly what I was looking for.

As someone who has a bit of a shotgun problem (and @2500 shells through a 1301 competition master), I'm looking forward to a range report.
Will do, though it will probably be a couple of weeks.

I am debating whether or not to buy one of the Beretta gel risers. I could use about 1/4" in comb height to get a good cheek weld and proper alignment on the ghost rings, but part of me wonders if I'm better off just leaving it be so I don't beat myself up with recoil to the face. Rumor is that RedStar ammo is on the spicy side.
