I just got a text message from member @BlackGun saying that he couldn't access his account and that attempting to get in showed his IP address as banned. Is there anything you Administrators can do to help him?

@Matt.Cross

Have @BlackGun to try and log in now............let us know if there are any issues and we apologize for the inconvenience as we've been hit by foreign attacks for the last several weeks. In our efforts for trying to clean things up on the site this could possibly have affected his account.

Let us know if all is well.

Will do.

Thanks for assisting with this and again we apologize for the inconvenience.

Thanks guys. I appreciation. It was getting lonely without my CFF fix. It's like crack but more addictive.

And it's our great members who make this as awesome as it is. We're just tagging along with everyone here for the ride.

Cheers !:D

Probably just cause the Fudds in charge don't like black guns...and they blame it on hackers instead. :p

@Brangus , While we're on the subject of "Issues". I will receive an email notice that I have a PM here but when I go to the site to read it it's not there??? This has been going on for about 3-4 days now.. Any ideas??

Blocking an IP address at first blush can seem like an effective option, but in practice it is often ineffective against anything other than a "script kiddie" as they're called as the attacker will simply move to a new address.

Instead, you're much better off using an active response tool, such as fail2ban, which dynamically looks for threat vectors and blocks the offending activity for a period long enough to cause the attacker to go away without generating collateral damage for the poor fool who gets assigned some I'll address via DHCP.

Hickory isn't in Poland by chance , is it?

No idea how that could be possible
