Accurate Mini

I tried to get them to confirm what work was done, they said their record keeping hasn’t been the best and since they have been in business 20 years no telling I have identified quite a few items from the web sight done to the gun
I had the Burris glass lying around, I need lower rings for it to get a better cheek weld...and maybe some more factory mags

Hate I didn't get a 6.8 Mini when they were available. Would have had it reamed to SPCII specs.

I've always been fascinated with Minis, but have never shot one. Handled a couple, but that's it. I dig my ARs for what they do, but I prefer the feel of a traditional rifle.

My series 185 with a strut and muzzle brake to act a damper as well as a Tech sight rear and M14 style front sight used to shoot the 10 ring at 100 yards with 62 gr or 68 gr projectiles. Then my eyes got worse and now it shoots to the 9 ring. It doesn't like 55 gr bullets. It also shoots better once the barrel is warmed up which is a bit strange. I think a part of the poor performance of the Mini in the past were the bad sights. Most Mini 14s are capable of service grade accuracy once the sight issue has been taken care of. Some people like the Mini and some hate them. I happen to like them. It is a handy carbine, good to 200 yards, past that I can't see the sights anyway. In most situations terrain features limit long distance shooting for any firearm.

I bought one before the retooling. It was beautiful, had an M14 like front handguard and extended flash hider. Unfortunately it was minute of pie plate at 25 yards. Really. Never have shot anything as inaccurate before or since. God knows what the previous owner(s) had done or not done to it, but it turned me off of them.

As long as you don't shoot the old pencil barrel models too hot they were plenty accurate for what they are for. I kick myself now and then for not getting one in 5.56 or 7.62x39 before everything went nuts.

Not the most accurate but I'm not letting go of my mini 30 . . . I do have a nice group shot at 100 yd; just can't reproduce it . . . It wears a dot now and serves a purpose.

I was hard up for cash about 20 years ago and let a Mini 30 go for a song. 🙁

I've had a few, most 581s. Eventually I always got the arse about the price of decent mags and turned it into something else. Which is a shame because I love the form factor way more than the AR15.

I'm a big fan of the Mini's. In the late 80's when everybody had them, I bought AR's. When everybody started buying AR's, I went back to the Mini's. I especially like and collect the GB versions.
