Act Naturally

Grandma watched Hee Haw and Dad watched Lawrence Welk but none of it stuck. I think I have a few cheesey bluegrass CD's and maybe a Zac Brown one lying around from the wife. Oh, and a handful of Ryan Bingham's stuff. Most country isn't dark or blue enough for me. But there is a time and place. I have enjoyed a lotmof nights at Nashville 's music joints.

My dad brought over some records that he found at my Grandpa's one day and had me look through them to see what I may want. He told me that the Johnny Horton in the stack was the one he remembered listening to the most as a kid in the 60's. The look of joy I saw on his face when I played Sink The Bismark from the same record he listened to growing up, made buying a record player years ago one of the best decisions I've ever made.

I don't listen to the goat ropers much, but when I do I like to go ahead and waller in it.

Q: What do you get when you play country music backwards?

A: You get your wife, your dog, and your truck back.

I like the old stuff. Got to see Mel Tillis and Reba McEntire back in 1976 at the Oklahoma State Fair rodeo. Even remember the date. My oldest daughter was born the next day. Miss the old stuff. Johnny Horton greatest hits is on my phone. His song North to Alaska is how I let my wife know we were moving to Alaska.

Huge fan of Don Williams.

This song comes on the radio and my wife's with me...yeah, I'm singing it to her. Personally, I don't think I sing worth a sh*t, but doesn't seem to matter much to her...still loves it.

I think this was my favorite of his

There's new guys out there doing old country, and doing it well. Check out Cody Jinks if you've never heard him.

This guy gave one of my biggest influences his "big break". The hawk eyed will recognize the lead guitar player.
