Hi all
I hate to ask, but does someone have an advance timing light i could borrow? I just bought a new one from Amazon, about $80, and my timing is off a lot with it. I am trying to time my GTO and initial was up around 60 when i started and now i got it down to about 20 but had to turn the dist a lot. Thinking new light may be faulty. Really don't want to buy another until im sure.

I'm in Clayton.
Thanks Ed

  • Did you unplug the vacume advance befor taking your reading. I will have to look but I might have a old craftsman one laying around you can use but I can't remember if it has advance on it or not.

Hey guys
thanks for the relies. Yes i pulled the vac and plugged it. The car has been off the road for about 10 years. I started the motor for the first time in 9 yrs a couple of weeks ago. The timing should have been the same as before it went to storage, but something happened. I had it set up right with initial of 10 degrees and all in at about 36. This was recommended by my engine builder.

Thanks Ed

Sorry buddy the old craftsman has given up the ghost. Come by my shop and I will let you use my one for work there.

Thanks Fuse, but the car is no road worthy yet. Probably 4-6 months away.
But thanks for the offer. What kinda shop is it? Is it in Fuquay?
