No details...because quite frankly, I'm just too exhausted to go into them now and there's so much horror to it.

The short:

I have had no contact with my three children from my first wife for nearly 30 Years.

Saturday I saw a notice on the Book of Faces that was dated for September last year.

It was from my son:

"Shot in the dark. Are you my father?"

"By the way, not looking for anything. Just family history of there."

I messaged him...and he replied!

Quite a bit of questions back and forth.

The dam has broken. Perhaps I'll eventually have contact with my daughters, too.

But for now, it's good enough that he holds no ill will.

Oh yeah...

I'M A GRANDPA!

12 TIMES OVER!

I know where you're coming from Chief; similar situation for me with my oldest son but only 11 years apart. He finally told his mother that he wanted me in his life and she was going to have to deal with it. (Chip off the ol' blockhead, lol)
Congratulations! Savor every minute!

Every child needs yo know where they originated from. Nasty divorces only hurt the young. Unfortunately many women use their children against the father if they have physical custody. How do I know? An ex-wife with first child and a mother who brainwashed her kids to hate their father. It was horrible what she mentally did to him knowing he made great efforts to see us. It haunts me. Its a sickening feeling I bought into it at one point. I lost out too many years. He was destroyed for a lifetime.

Embrace the moment. Shed some tears. Don’t fear the future. Follow up and let us know how it goes.

Just a note:

I haven't heard back from my son since that weekend, but it's STILL a great Father's Day!

In addition to a wonderful Father-in-law, three awesome children by my second marriage, and all the other people normally in my life, I have the fact that my son by my first marriage reached out to me and let me know there are no hard feelings.

It is enough!

Count the blessings you have!
