I'm moving to Alamance county at the end of the month and will also need to do my NC CCW shortly after. Cumberland County is painless. Anything extra I need to do besides the renewal form? How fast is the turnaround?

Also need recommendations on a shooting range. I'm pretty spoiled now shooting on a family friend's property and of course well practiced on cleanup and care so he doesn't regret it. A member on the forum that I met had recommended Buckhorn, but said he's not currently a member and there may be a little bit of a wait.

    Thanks!

My last renewal took 60 days. The Sheriff here is 2A friendly (although he is anything but taxpayer friendly). I belong to DPRC, a private range in LA which I would recommend except that there is a waiting list that runs into a few years. There is a range in the northern part of Alamance called Central Carolina Gun Club which I know little about. You can also shoot on a part of the Caswell County Gamelands just across the Alamance line to the north. I might add that there is a group from this forum which meets here occasionally (twice in the last year) so watch for that in the Gun Shows and Meet Ups section and you could meet some of the local forum members irl.

I'm a member at Buckhorn. Not sure about a wait list, though. I'd be glad to take you out there sometime (if you have a day off during the week- I work Fr-Su) & can give you the head dude's contact info.

CHP & renewal is easy-peasy here. Sheriff's a scumbag, but is very pro-2A, so never a hassle that I've heard of. I think you'll like it up this way. Came up here after 13 years on Bragg & immediately felt at home.

Remember to do a change of address in Cumberland as soon as you get you new DL so Alamance can request your info with minimal effort. The change in address and the info swap between counties might add some time also.

CHP in 49 days. Member of CCGC. Have several options at the range from multi purpose pits, 50 yd, 100 yd, 200 yd and they are working on a long range area.

I'll definitely want to shoot with you guys once we can coordinate schedules.

Just started the renewal today. Surprised by the additional components compared to Cumberland County. The most notable is that I have to wait on the voter registration card to be mailed to me to provide the required copy and provide a copy of my social security card. I double checked Cumberland County and all I needed was the DL.

So as of now I can't conceal carry for whatever time it takes to get this voter registration card (voted many times and never even seen one of these before) + the 49-60 days. Going to feel naked for a couple months.

Never even thought about that, but I'd lived here for a couple years prior to getting my CHP.
