Just left the Kannapolis WM about 20 minutes ago and as I was walking by Sporting Goods I thought they must have had a blow out sale on shot shells because there wasn't a single box on the shelf. The I noticed there wasn't ANY ammo in the other cabinet either!! ALL gone, hope you got yours!

Locust Walmart has been like that for 2 months. I hadn't been in one in 6 months so i didnt really notice but friends told me as much. Academy fills my big box itch

nope, just handgun ammo and evil black assault rifle ammo. They'll still sell .223 and .308 just fine. And .22, and 12 ga. All those safe chamberings for Fudds.

So no black rifle ammo but they do sell .223? What?o_O

I went to academy yesterday and they barely had any. Been to a couple Walmart’s in Greensboro with full ammo cases but they have signs on them saying they aren’t selling due to covid-19

order it from them online and pickup in the store. Or ship it. Same taxes either way, and shippings free over $25 (for me anyhow, I'm a sucker with an Academy credit card with it's measly 5% discount)

That’s strange unless Greensboro stores are afraid it will be used against them.

Get ready for another extended period of higher prices until the general election. Then if the liberals win we will see prices driven even higher.

I don’t think they carry .223 anymore. It fell under their “no more SBR ammo” clause.

I did grab 1600 rounds (@ $15/100) when they were blowing it out.

Nobody tell them I have SBRs in much bigger calibers than that. :D

A buddy of mine said that he went to Academy in Matthews yesterday and the ammo shelves were empty. He was looking for 556 & 9mm

Overhead a guy asking for 9mm in Cabela's the other day. The employee said that new shipments that come in are usually gone by lunch.
With the rioting, I don't expect it to get any better any time soon, maybe even worse, ir that's possible.

No 223 or 22 or anything at all other than shotgun shells for the past month. I think they are bailing out.

EVEN IF Lex wally still carries ammo, i would not know, not been in that part of store for weeks.
would not have done any good today.... was there at 5pm to pick up scripts...and CLOSED
buggies packed up in front of door.. barricade style, maybe 4-8 cars in parking lot

saw an employee gathering carts, stopped him he said store close today.... ........ dang............

Get ready for world war three you mean. They will surely pass something ridiculous and I'm getting old...

Walmart Inc said on Wednesday it shifted firearms and ammunition out of sales floors of some U.S. stores amid nationwide protests over the death of an unarmed black man at the hands of police last week.

“We have temporarily removed firearms and ammunition from the sales floor in some stores out of an abundance of caution,” the nation’s largest retailer said in a statement.

“Those items are available for purchase, but are being stored in a secure room.”

Walmart, which stopped selling ammunition for handguns and some assault-style rifles in its U.S. stores last year, does not sell firearms in many of the major urban markets experiencing issues due to looting.

Local Walmart now has zero of ANY AMMO....zero.
According to their announcement, you can request to purchase what they have “in back”.

Are they gonna escort ya back? Or is this gonna be like a game of 20 questions? You got? No....ok, you got? Well dam.....what do ya got?

Yeah you're not gonna find the 2 most in demand centerfire calibers in the nation on the shelf for reasonable prices. Order online pickuo in store is the way Ive been doing it when they get a shipment.

But the LGS will be happy to sell you M193 for .50 a round if you buy in bulk.

That Matthew's store sucks for ammo inventory as well. Concord Mills and Kannapolis are much better.

Talked to someone at the local wally world and was told they still have it but it has been removed from display along with firearms because of the protesting. He said they are supposed to put it out for certain hours and lock it up all other times. They opted to just leave if in back for now.

Looters can't find back rooms?

Never said they couldn't. Just passing along what I was told. Never seen the back room at wally world but I would think they have a little more security there than a glass case and a flimsy cable but that is just my opinion. If you desire further info direct your questions to wally world. ;)

Most "looters" break glass ,grab and go .In and out very quickly. Most with less than 2 brain cells . From my experience in Walmart stores the sporting goods department is almost always the farthest department away from the front of store. In my local Walmart its in the back far right of the store. It would take them 5 to 10 minutes to break in run to back of store break glass and grab ammo what to put it in and then run back to the front and out the door. And if they went to stock room no telling how long that would take. I would think that the ammo and any firearms would be in a locked cage or locked room.
