I decided to take the first step and get the Surefire brake off of my AR10, so yesterday I jerry rigged a coat hanger setup to keep the muzzle and the brake submerged while I boiled water to break loose the Rockset holding the brake on.
It took a little over an hour, but it worked.
I have to give the threads another good cleaning or two, before I install the new Warcomp, but man the rifle looks good wearing it.

The other was the Mutant, the removed Surefire brake is now going on it, with a Warden to relieve the torture of the shooters around me.

As the work progresses, I'll post pictures.

I like a happy ending when comes to Rockset. I have a couple horror stories due to my ignorance though. Look forward to pictures!

… and that’s a pretty wicked looking barricade stop too. That’ll leave a mark for sure if you ever get “danger-close” to someone!

She survived the proof firing, and I had to properly re-torque the hand guard after a three shot string when the thing got slung forward almost an inch on the barrel nut.
On another range trip I'll re-verify the zero.
