Curious to know what everyone’s thoughts are on Anderson self lubricating metal “RF85”. I have watched several reviews which seem positive. I am surprised it’s not getting more hype if as good as they say.
Would love to get everyone’s opinion. What do you think?

I don’t have any first hand experience with Anderson’s RF85 treatment but I can’t recall any reviewer saying it doesn’t work as advertised.

Personally, I don’t know if I would ever spend the extra money on a build with RF85, again in my opinion, the associated cost for a coating or treatment that does nothing more than allow me to not use lubricant (which I’ll use anyways) doesn’t seem worth it, I’ve shot my fair share of Anderson uppers & lowers as well as complete rifles, not to mention sand blasting their products for prior to doing a Cerakote job, I can tell you that their anodizing is extremely, and I do mean EXTREMELY tough to remove, I’ve done everything from PSA to BCM uppers & lowers and Anderson’s coatings are some of the most difficult to remove.

With that said, the RF85 treatment Anderson uses appears to work as advertised, but I can also tell you that their standard “non” RF85 uppers & lowers combined with a quality lubricant such as Slip2000 or PROPERTY applied Frog Lube will slick up like glass at 1/4 the cost and run flawlessly.
