Anderson Dissipator

Interesting.

So what's the big deal? What's the main feature?

Carbine barrel, rifle everything else. I mean, I get it, but if you have a 20 incher in the same form I don't feel like 4 inches of barrel makes much difference.
But more options are always nice and sometimes it's just fun to shoot an interesting rifle.

Dude on the utube failed to mention that the Brownells 605 works, and works very well......

I have one of these complete uppers on the way, will get a mini review up when it arrives. I'm going to throw mine on a carbine lower.

Coming back to this thread reminds me I have a sick urge to make a rifle that looks like a Chibi M16A2. I had found a source for shorter A2 style stocks. 10" upper with the FSB. Carry handle etc.

I've looked hard at these but can't see paying onefiddy.

Sometimes you spend the money for the build. Especially when an idea gets stuck in your head and won't leave until you build it.

Those are pretty neat.

Well, my first Anderson upper, and I am not impressed. Went to clean it before taking it out today.

Is this rust or bad/incomplete nitride finish? The barrel looks the same- brown rifling. I've powder blasted, CLP'ed, Hoppes, and Ballistol'ed it. Nothing comes out on the patches.

There's your sign...
?

I always look for metal shavings and crap like that in new rifles.
I found metal shavings in a Del-Ton barrel once that look like they were left over from drilling the gas port.

As you should. New rifles are always suspect of having milling or casting trash. Clean, blow it out, oil it up!

I was just funning from the "do you clean it" thread.

Well, Anderson is going to RMA it.

Must have missed that thread.

My first AR was an Anderson lower with a PSA Dissipator upper. :) Good times. It's an interesting aesthetic.

Well, Anderson got the upper back to me with about 8 of the same sticker to make up for the problem, I guess. Went out 2/10, back to me this morning. So pretty good turn around time.

Looks like they just swapped barrels on the upper. Broke a heat shield in the process. They aren't the best heatshields or handguards in the world but dang. I just swapped out the handguards with a set I had laying around. Both handguard sets had front to back play between the delta ring and front cap. Pulling the rifle into your shoulder the handguard comes back on you. I just shimmed in some silicone tape which tightened up the fit.

Shot a whopping 30 rounds. Put a carry handle on it, standard front sight. Took five rounds to get it in. About 2 inch groups with irons at 50 yards. Serviceable.

I don't perceive that recoil is lighter on a carbine buffer lower. However, it just sort of plops cases out in front of me and they bounced off the table to my 1 o'clock. That was with 55 grain bulk ammo. I can imagine lighter loads will have reliability problems.

I'm honestly kind of "meh" about it.

If it’s throwing cases at 1oclock, it’s over gassed, so a lighter load would probably function fine

It's not "throwing" them though. They plunk down on the table in front of me.
