My daughter graduated in June 21 with a masters in applied physics.
Today she had a conference call interview for a physicist position researching superconductors and quantum committing at 10am today. 3 panels, 10 people total. Lasted 2 hours.
At 4:30pm she got an email telling her she got the job offer. Starting salary $90k.

Congratulations to your daughter on her new job and to you for supporting her educational efforts.

Before I retired, I managed a service that analyzed enterprise-level risk models of major financial companies. Among the PhDs who actually analyzed the models, the most impressive was a Chinese nuclear physicist we got from CERN (the world's largest particle physics laboratory); she used to joke (maybe) that our job was an easy and restful break from her previous physics work at CERN.
