What kind of results do you get from lawn mower blade metal? I haven't read good things but I never tried making one either...

I'll preface this by saying that IVE never done this, but from reading other sites with amateur knife-makers, it seems to be a popular item to use to start a knife.
Maybe that's due to the cost? I dont know, I look forward to following this thread further

Well so far the metal in them have been awesome. I did notice one thing I've used newer and older blades and it seems the metal in the older blades is a much better quality metal thank goodness older ones are easy for me to find. I have made stuff from old leaf springs talk about awesome metal now those normally have it

With me it was I had the thought run thru my head when I seen some nice leg bones from deer and a couple of used lawn mower blades and thought I bet I could make a nice knife outta those
 
Well started another more traditional than last one lol, so far metal has been doing nice had a piece of scrape and kinda seen a knife in it lol I know sounds silly.1500753239215-1298785628.jpg
 
about 1 1/2 inch back from tip its sharpened on both top and bottom not sure on handle yet, thinking might do a regular wrap with para-cord not sure yet really
