I have an Omega that’s been great as an all-purpose can, but I’m ready for a dedicated 5.56.

5.56 is supersonic, of course, so I’m realistic about ability to completely muffle sound.

This will go on an 11.5” SBR used for Run n Gun matches primarily.

Priorities in this order:
- Shorter
- lighter
- quieter

Direct thread preferred as it will go on a semi-permanent host.

Suggestions?

I am just a novice in this world, but Aaron Cowan of Sage Dynamics said the new Dead air Sierra 5 was his new favorite dedicated 5.56 can in a recent review. If you go with their xeno mount it's essentially still direct thread, albeit onto a muzzle device. But it's still relatively light and short.

I’ve been wanting to pick up a flow556k. As soon as I have the funds and find one in stock it’ll probably be my next purchase.

Turbo K all day. If you’re ever down towards Statesville you’re welcome to shoot mine.

They don’t make it anymore to my knowledge and chagrin,
But the SilencerCo Specwar K 556 is an outstanding can.
It is small and surprisingly effective. Designed to be used from inside a vehicle, so length and effectiveness were top priorities.

Replaced with Saker K or Chimera (no K version)

Well this thread sums up some exact thoughts I’ve had recently. OP intention and current setup same as mine.

Why turbo K over T2? I think it’s time I try one of these yhm offerings. But unsure if additional weight and length simply isn’t worth it? Will go direct thread.

Edit: RC2 is still one i consider, maybe there is newer and better but it’s still a solid contender as far as I can tell

Re: Turbo K. The footprint is much better and you are not compromising much (if anything) in terms of suppression. Many folks say they cannot tell a difference between the two.

RC2 is still a solid performer but is very heavy, doesn’t put out the best suppression numbers and has a dated mounting system.

That is useful to know. I may potentially be able to get a KAC QDC can in the future, and it's an interesting question whether to go Surefire or KAC in that regard.

Where do you get your suppression numbers? I've seen the exact opposite.
