Looking at a 2006 crewmax tundra, very clean and taken care of from the pics. Dealer wants $13,500 and just lowered to $13000 today. Has 157k miles. Timing belt was done right at 100k miles like 7 years ago.

Ive read nothing but good things about these trucks, the seqouias and the land cruisers that all sport the same engine/tranny...

Just feels weird going to get a truck with that many miles for the price, but trucks are high.... Im hoping if I pull the trigger to get another 300,000 out of it.

I wouldn’t count on another 300 but it is certainly possible. I have a 2000 4.7 4wd SR5 with 175ish and it is running OK. I got it a few years ago and did a lot of preventive maintenance myself because it was a beater truck for the seller.

That price does seem pretty high for the miles.

I have a 2006 Tundra with 265K +.
It's not going anywhere.

I have a buddy with over 500k on a 2003 sequoia with the 4.7. Original engine and trans.

I have a friend with an early Tundra with the 4.7. Has 238k and no issues. He drives his vehicles quite hard also. His last Chevy couldn’t take it..

I've got an 04 Sequoia with the 4.7. It has 220,000 miles on it. The Tundra forums say the key is to change the timing belt and water pump on schedule and you'll get lots of miles from that engine.

Im a car dealer and come across high mileage 4.7L Toyota vehicles often. One of the best engines Toyota ever made. Ill give you a couple examples.

The owner of one of the shops that services our cars had an early 2000's sequoia and was in a wreck that totaled it. He asked me for some help finding a replacement, his only requirement was it have 4 doors, 4WD, and the 4.7L Toyota engine. He works on cars for a living and that is what he wanted. Ended up finding him a Tundra with a little over 100k miles.

A guy came in one day looking to trade his 03 tundra truck in on an 06 tundra we had. His 03 had 435000 miles on it. He swears he never once changed the timing belt, only special service he did was use mobile one oil since he bought the truck with 10k miles on it. We didn't end up trading as I couldn't give him what he wanted on trade. I offered $2500, and was wondering what I was going to do with a 435000 mile truck I had that much in, but he said if he couldn't get $5000 he would just keep on driving it. So he kept on driving it, I saw him in it on and off for the next year or so.

While it’s certainly possible, I don’t think I would ever buy a vehicle expecting it to make it to 450k miles. That’s a lot of wear and tear! A more realistic expectation would be 300k IMO.

I would recommend being patient and searching around more for a better deal than the one you mentioned.
