I recently acquired a HSHMC-25P military crane (1989 vintage) and was wondering if anybody here was familiar with it's operation or service?

Thx.

Scott

Good morning Scott.
I to recently purchased an (1989) hshmc-25 with 1980 miles & 460 hours on it.
i also purchased a set of 8 crane tires ( Michelin 445/80R25 ) take offs from the military, they are practically brand new, changed out because they only use the model tires we have on our cranes.
I am looking for a boom hoist cylinder the military lost the ram from mine. or if you have that cylinder ever rebuilt could it have your hydraulic shop replicate just the rod i have all the packings and clevis.

I was wondering in your time of owning this crane have you found anywhere to purchase spare parts.
i may also be looking to part this thing out if not able to locate a new cylinder.

I am driving this beast back to Florida from Aberdeen, MD.

Hi Chris, congratulations on your purchase. Personally I would look into having a lowboy or inter coastal barge transport the crane instead of driving it. That’s a long way with a piece of equipment with scarce spare parts.

Do you have any manuals with yours? I have a .pdf of the parts manual if you would like a copy.

Re the boom hoist cylinder, do you have the cylinder and piston and cap, and only need the ram, or do you need additional parts too?

Thanks,
I am missing the piston (rod as our hydraulic guys call it)
I have the outer tube, cap, the boom side clevis end & inner packing gland.
No manuals as of yet, was going to try purchase from the crane network, their site say they have them, but they have not contacted me back yet.

That would be great if you had a copy of the parts manual.

Is this a different crane than the last one you posted about?

Must be a hard life.

LOL.

The last crane that I posted about was an older P&H that I operate for the RR Museum. At that time I was working the deal to acquire the HSHMC-25, which happened shortly thereafter.

Chris - that’s a pretty clean looking crane! Nice score; sucks that you have to do some assembly though. Is it an optical illusion or is the main mast bent mid span?

Why don’t you pm me your e-mail address and I can forward the manuals that way (or I can mail a flash drive - it’s a lot of .pdf’s).
