Inquiring minds want to know.
I’d like to put up a few feeders in my deer lease- and I’m tempted by the “ stump” type gravity feeders.
Anyone have any real life experience with these?

They’re a hellova lot more expensive than an empty plastic barrel.
Worth it- or is this another example of something made to appeal to the hunter, rather than the game?

I think it’s just a gimmick. I know plenty of people that screw a white PVC feeder to a tree and it works. If you want something bigger why not just use a sealable 55 gallon drum and paint it?
That's probably the route that I'll take . I just can't see $200 worth of advantage in the tru stump unless I heard from someone with actual experience .. But it sure looks good! :)

No idea what a stump feeder is... My dad and I build the tri legged fishing weight kind.

Long bolt holds a chain that goes through a hole in the bottom of the barrel to a fishing weight at ground level. Deer or animals head hits the weight and swings the chain. The slight amount of movement will let corn fall out of the barrel.

Honestly the only advantage I could see is that the feeder is less conspicuous to humans. If you have an issue with poachers. This may help keep them from discovering where they need to setup. But other than that, PVC gravity feeders do not affect deer activity in my experience.

Edited to add: and I place a big emphases on the may help part.
