So...my wife's car (2009 Venza 3.5L V6 2wd) decided to blow the oil cooler line today....
After a tow to the dealership, thats what I find out.
I see a Warranty enhancement program that Toyota did for Venza's, Sienna's etc for EXACTLY this problem.
The second part of the warranty is 10 years....or 150k miles..which ever comes first.

How do I speak to the dealership intelligently about covering my work under Toyotas enhancement warranty without them just saying no and denying the claim??

Help

Just tell them
“Toyota extended the warranty, go check, now fix it. “

They did that to my Tundra smog air intake that gets rusted shut just from driving in the rain. Googled the diagnosis it had, found out about the extended warranty... told them the above.

I've heard of Toyota replacing the frames on Tundras as they rust prematurely....when I pulled up today in the tow truck...there was a brand new frame out back awaiting to be installed I'm assuming. Just looked weird seeing a frame out there.

Replacing them on some 4Runners too.

And tacomas. They generally stand behind their product.
We'll see if they stand behind their crappy design oil cooler lines that they redesigned and put a warranty enhancement program out for...

They put new u-joints in my 09 tacoma under a warranty enhancement. The frame was inspected and passes, I didn't think it was going to be an issue on mine.

They didn't give me any push back on the u-joints. They weren't showing any play or slack that I could tell.

I’m just concerned because when they put my vin in, they only had 2 warranty recall items.....and the oil cooler line wasn’t included. I have a feeling that I’m gonna have to do what @Mike Overlay said and pay the bill and get Toyota corporate to reimburse me.

You reminded me to get my 07 Tundra in for a new frame this year before October.

On a CSP(Customer Satisfaction Program) like the high pressure oil line, Toyota policy is very cut and dry from the dealer perspective. We cannot do it under warranty if it is one mile out or one day over. Their reasoning is if I do it for you, but not the next person, what qualifies one but not the other. There is a legal aspect that they don’t want to get into on the dealer side. That being said, the only entity that can assist is the CEC(Customer Experience Center) 800-331-4331. They have some leeway that dealerships do l not. They have the ability to help after the expiration using customer loyalty money. They’ll take into account how many Toyota’s you own/have owned, and how often you service at a Toyota dealer. Be nice when you call, as you’ll catch more flies with sugar than you will with salt.

Good luck with on the repair.

Thanks @dorton

Called CS this morning..talk with Michael. Super guy! He verified my VIN did have the extended warranty on that oil cooler hose!!!
I called dealer around noon to check on the car. Service guy said he just got the paperwork..give him a few and he'd call me back. I informed him that I believed the work was under warranty as I called corporate and confirmed ZE2 extended warranty for that part. He said he'd look into it. Called me back about 30 mins later and said my car was ready and it was covered under warranty!!! I only had 2 months left as we bought it in May 2009! But it's covered!!

Thanks again everyone!!

Glad to hear it all worked out and you were on the right side of that warranty expiration!

How many auto makers would extend their warranty this much and take care of it?

Thats good to hear, other than a safety recall, i dont hear too much about a car manufacturer extending warranties and actually taking care of it.

A lot of companies do this for known issues. I see service bulletins daily for it. They do not advertise it but they are there sometimes. If you where to see all the bulletins availible for your car no matter the brand or model you would have a heart attack and expect every little noise and rattle to be the end. Most cars and trucks have pages of them.
