I'm stuck at the coast in the rain and wind. It sure would be nice to look at a few long range steel targets with the paint peeled off or some videos. If you have some LR hits, go ahead and post them! PLEASE!! I'm going nuts down here.

Wish there were more places to shoot long range. That's the only reason I can see myself moving out west. Some nothingness desert to roam around in.
There's a place North of Charleston I believe.
That's probably the range in Francis Marion state park. It's only 100 yards.

You know the cure for this is to buy a suppressor, then you'll want to shoot everything subsonic, then you'll get all the drop calculating, turret spinning, delayed "ping" joy you would shooting 1000+ yds at your local 200 yd range.
Although the above is mostly tongue in cheek, IMHO you would arguably be mastering a skill more potentially useful in this AO than taking a 1000 yd shot will ever be.

It's slowly starting to gel around here. Five of us got together last Saturday and banged away until lunchtime. Then it was burgers, brats and beer after that. I need to figure out how to post pics. Photobucket doesn't seem to work anymore.
Mountain top to mountain topI'd like to get into long range shooting since I reload, but where I live you have to go to I40 to even have a line-of-sight past 200yd.

Sort of. Shot my 25 and 100 yard KYL targets with two of my .22 rifles this morning. Considering the smallest on the 25 yard is 1/4 " and the smallest on the 100 yard is 1", it simulates long range pretty well.
Shot at FLD yesterday. Was an off day for me. I can usually run the table from 200 to 1000 with maybe one Mike with my old 700 in 308 but not yesterday. May have been the ammo which was loaded for a 10 twist and new bbl on this old gun is 12 but I had it zeroed at 100. I still got there it just took a few more rounds than usual. Wind was light and variable as they say but humidity was high.
When I was at the range over the weekend was thinking about shooting the bolt action 308 at 300 to 500 yards and the AR at 200 after leaving the pistol range. The wind was blowing (20 to 25 kts) the target over on the pistol range. Figured that on the 500 yard range I would be shooting in the next county. Decided to come home.
Shot at FLD Monday. My 6BR was boringly accurate as usual. My recorded come ups stayed the same which is rare for me at FLD. Paul needs half minute targerts at all distances.

I'm trying to better my speed hitting all of the targets on our range. So far 10 targets from 2 -600 yards in about 2 1/2 minutes, which is real slow according to the guys on here. Two are 1/2 and 1 MOA respectively (4 inch target at 400 and 600 yards) with the rest being mostly 2 to 3 MOA in size. I'm dialing up too. I just can't hold consistently with the reticle beyond 400 yards. I guess we need bigger targets! LOL
