Anyone else ditching double stack CCW guns for high cap “single stacks”?

My summer carry is different than my winter carry.
When it's cool enough for a coat, I'm carrying full size owb.

In the Glock line, I've going back to double-stacks. The single stacks aren't worth the trade offs IMO. The lack of a 1913 rail with the upcoming G26 MOS is disappointing since I want illumination on a carry gun more than an RDS. The TLR-6 and Recover Tactical Rail with TLR7A aren't good solutions.

The P365 is a legit game-changer in spite of all of Sig's shady shenanigans. I like the 365 lower and 365X upper with a 407k and TLR7-Sub. Forget I have it on at times. A little too heavy for pocket carry IME and I don't like anything but DA in a pocket.

Haven't tried the Shield Plus, but carried a Shield 1.0 for a long time. Excellent choice and I carried it over the M&P9c 1.0
That’s a good point about limited light options with the “1.5 stacks”.
I’m not a big fan of the TLR-6 but it seems like the best option. I don’t usually carry with a weapon light so not a big deal to me.

Yeah I'm one of the weirdos who would just rather carry a compact (g19) or a full size all the time. Not really any harder for me to conceal, easier to shoot, I get a full size wml, and I like being to pull my edc pistol out and drop it in my range belt for classes and larping.

Flirting with my dagger frame chop (to g26 length) and tlr7a though.

That’s the only big trade off I see. Different gun for primary range/training use, so I have to make a point to practice with my “1.5 stack” EDC. Thankfully I shoot it very well and controls are very similar on the Plus and FS 2.0, so it’s not like I’m going shield to 2011.

As for your “pocket knife”… 😂

With my P365XL, using the extended 17 round mag, I can get a full 2 handed grip. I shoot it very well. With the stock 12 round mag, I can't get a full grip, my pinkie is still not gripping well. I still can shoot it good out to 25 yards. I have run the P365XL with the both mags in IDPA matches. On my EDC guns, I don't see the need or the weight, to have a weapon mounted light. My night stand gun, has a light. My home defense AR also has a weapon mounted light.

I used to carry a 19 but these days I carry the Hellcat RDP more then anything. I literally do not like anything springfield makes but this cat rdp is my jam! 2nd up is a 365, third is a revolver of the day.

I carry a G26 with 12 round Magpul mag in the gun and a 15 round backup mag in the winter and a G43 with Shield Z9 mags in the warmer months. Though honestly I could still carry the 26. The 43 is just a hair lighter and thinner and I shoot it just as well if not a bit better.

My hot weather/off-duty gun is a Shield Plus ( just upgraded from the 1.0s with apex triggers). I tried the single stack Glocks for on the job but went back to gen4 G23 or 26; they just fit me better.
365 shot accurately for me, but did not fit my hand right.

I also went through a phase where I thought my carry gun needed every gizmo available (Romeo 1 Pro optic, Streamlight TL-6) but then I realized that setup is too big for me and that a WML is probably not going to be needed for an EDC in 99% of circumstances. Now I keep things simple and as close to factory configuration as possible. I like my carry guns to have very strong retention in the holster and a WML weakens that to some degree. Optics are great though, if it was possible to get my P30SK milled for a dot at <$150 I'd do it.

Anyone running a Taurus GX4? I've had several Taurus small carry guns and they've all run great.

I've had my Shield 1.0 for 10 years. 8+1 gold dots and I never worried. It was the go to for everything. I had such a good experience with that gun I recently bought a Shield Plus and now I dont know what to do with that 1.0 since I never reach for it. 14 rounds of hst now and basically the same grip size as the single stack 9 rounder fitting into all the same holsters. I can't be any happier.

I have several Glock 19s, 17s, a 26, 48 and 43. I also have a 365. Most days I carry the 43 or the 365. The 43 i find I shoot slightly better than the 365, however I have many more rounds and time with the 43 over the 365. I picked up my 19 the other day after having not carried it for a month or more and felt like I was holding a lead weight in my hand.

I rotate between 1911 Comander size gun, Smith 380 and G43...so they are all single stack low capacity. I have various double stacks but they are heavy and seem to want to pull my pants down.

I am still rocking the Sphinx sub compact SDP for summer carry. BHP Alloy when its cold.

I don’t know if anyone would admit it, they seem to get ALOT of hate. All reviews seem positive though, with minor reports of the trigger failing to reset IIRC.

I've been considering an LCP max. The older I get the more I find my G43 is starting to feel heavier in the pocket than it used to. Said differently, I want something I notice less when I carry it. This represents an evolution in my thinking because in the past I wouldn't consider .380 to be enough gun. Newer design ammo and higher capacity is making me reconsider.

As we age we think differently.

All pistols I've owned have been double stacked. Right now my edc is a Glock 27 with a 9 + 1 and 10 +1 magazines. Then on some days ill have a extra 15 round extended magazine. Also have a 50rd drum mag that fits it. ;)
