Does anyone have both one of the new Shadow Systems CR920s and a Sig P365? I'm curious as to any direct comparisons. I've got a lot of experience with the Sig but I'm a Glock guy and always seem to do better with them. I've had a bunch of issues with rust (luckily just surface so far) on the P365 so I'm always looking out for anything that can truly replace it (43X/48, Shield, XDS are not direct replacements for me).

I don't own both (only a P365XL), but did get a chance to shoot one recently when the guy in the point next to me brought one in. Feel was very Glock 43ish (no surprise there). Trigger felt like it had a very long reset which I wasn't a big fan of (and I am not a fan of the P365 trigger either, but the P365 trigger reset still felt much better). I put a mag of Norma 115gr through it without issue, but had an FTE with 124gr Magtech. The owner said he was also having some FTF/FTE issues with whatever stuff he was using, but this was all during the break-in.

Having had over 1000 rds through my SIG without a single issue from the very first trigger pull, I would not trust the Shadow as a carry gun. Sure as heck wouldn't pay almost $700 for one. Shame, too, since I always liked their G19 clone.

So I'm a huge fan of the P365xl and thats the one my wife's been working with. I walked into a CR920 and fell in love not sure why since I'm not into glocks. I shoot the 365xl pretty good but damn the CR920 was tits and hit well over any bar I thought was reasonable. Never experienced any issues or malfunctions at all, had none of the horrible issues on youtube. I immediately wanted my wife to love it and consider it ...so I could shoot it at the range... However she handles the XL better and we already have holsters, mags etc.... Honestly biggest con to me was lack of mag support for the Cr920 and hadn't seen any decent reviews of non Shadow Systems mags working with any reliability. For a compact range toy only Id have a CR920 in a heartbeat, but for practical purposes and ccw think I would still grab p365xl. For the record I loved the CR920 but have the Sig in rotation.

I now have a 365X (which I've shot quite a bit) and just recently got a CR920. This weekend I'll break in the CR920 so we'll see how they compare then.

Honestly I don't think I'll be replacing my 365X as my main carry gun anytime soon. It shoots pretty straight for me, and I can hit targets at pretty decent distances (10x8 plate) pretty consistently at 75 yards with irons. I'm going to put an optic on the CR920 and see what it'll do, but at first I'm going to just run it with irons to see what it'll do.

Any updates on the CR920 yet?

I ended up buying one and so far I'm really happy with it. I put 280 rounds through it after I bought it (100 - 115gr Federal, 100 - 150gr Syntech, and 80 - 147gr HST. I had one failure in the first 100 rounds and that was it. Accuracy was acceptable (haven't put it on paper for group sizes) enough that I was hitting 7/10 or 8/10 on the plates at 50 yards and the 15 yard plate rack felt as easy or easier than the 365. Unfortunately I only had the CR920 with me so I wasn't able to compare it to anything else but so far it's a winner for me

I couldn’t justify the cost over a G43X especially since there doesn’t seem to be many glowing reviews around on it. It’s probably a great pistol but I just couldn’t drop $700+ on it.

Mine seems to have worked out okay. It went through the break in with zero malfunctions. But some people have had issues with them.

Honestly it isn’t as good as the 365x. For me.

The 43X is such a good pistol I don’t think you gain very much with the CR920. It’s a fun toy but I would go with a 365X, 43x or a 43X MOS.

At some point I’ll do a much better review.

I saw a video the other week put out by Shadow saying that their barrel design was the cause of a lot of the failures (how it was machined to protect the coating), and they are replacing all of those barrels. While I admire their willingness to admit fault and correct the issue, I couldn't feel confident carrying one.

What makes the 365X better to you?

I really liked the 365/365XL but had 2 main issues with multiple. First the 365 grip is just a little too small so I would have to readjust after 2-3 shots. The XL had enough length to fix that for me but I’m a fatty and have to be able to tuck so it didn’t have much advantage over my 19 (which was my issue with the 43X/48). The other issue I kept having was rust. The quality of Sig’s stainless is just not very good apparently. I’m in construction and around water a lot and I ended up having to give it a good rub down every few days or I started getting rust. Going out of town or when it got cooler ended ip being a pain because it would be so much worse whenever I would eventually pull it out. Otherwise I really loved them. The 920 seems like it’s going to be just as good for me but I need a chance to run then back to back and I’m hoping the finish is going to hold up much better for me.

Mainly the trigger in combination with the XL grip module. I always wear an undershirt and I have an office job so I don’t have to worry so much about rust. If I did, that would definitely be a factor.

The 365x is basically the XL with a shorter slide/barrel.

It’s all about what works for one personally. For me, based purely on performance in a timed course of fire, the 365X beat all others. But I really like having a variety of carry guns. So I end up carrying whatever I’m in the mood to carry.

FWIW, the cheap Hogue "slip on" (I had to boil it to get it on it fits so tight) grip for the 365XL made all the difference in the world for me. Took it from too small to just right, and I am normally not a fan of any stick on/slip on grips.

I'm a bigger guy and sweat just standing outside. Finish on the Sigs is fairly mediocre. Have had more issues with lite rust on the P365 mags more than anything. The coating on the CR920 itself is way better. I don't think it will have any abnormal issues, seems very close to my Zev slide. My wife and I put around 1k rds thru in the time I had it and cleaned it twice very quick easy wipe with no real wear that I could see. Our P365XL was only slightly more intense with the same round count while it cleans right up it is obviously not the same finish. Older pic after range trip sorry for phone pic- 20220620_205813.jpg
