My wife and I were given an instapot as a gift. We have used it a few times with pretty good success. Do y'all have any good recipes to share for this contraption? Thanks

My wife uses one when I'm in China. Easier to cook for her and our daughter. She likes it.
My sister got it for our mom thinking it might encourage her to cook for herself when she doesn't like the menu at the senior apartment she lives at. (That's another story)

My wife has found some recipes on Pinterest for it. We like ours.

I've got one. Mainly use it as a fast alternative to a crock pot. A 4lb pork roast cooks to fall apart tender in around an hour.

Would love to expand my recipe base for the thing. Tagged for interest.

The wife uses ours 4-5 tines a week. It’s awesome for steamed vegetables. They turn out perfect every time, not too crunchy or too mushy.

I have the Farberware version. Bought it from Wally world website for 59 bucks shipped. I love it. Here's one the first meals I made in it:

We use our InstaPot more than our oven, especially in the winter time.

We don't eat pasta often, but pasta cooked in it is a game changer, a true one pot meal.

There are a ton of recepies online, I usually just Google whatever I'm looking for and go from there.

This is the best reference for rice I have found.

Here's a list of 50 meals we have been working through.

Watching this thread as I have thought I might like one. I just don't know where I could possibly store another bulky kitchen appliance.

https://nomnompaleo.com Has a lot of good instant pot recipes. Adding rice or some other grain to your plate instantly makes it non paleo if that's not your thing.

Give away your slow cooker, rice cooker, and anything similar for space.

I love our Instant Pot! I think my favorite recipe so far is ribs. I start them in the Instant Pot and finish on the grill. It’s fast and clean up is easy.

Oh now you've done it. Ribs in an Instapot! Blasphemy. Next thing we know you are going to be cooking on a grill using electricity!

Mods we need a ban in the cooking Channel!

I heard the same thing from some rib snobs that I know, but they loved them. They are juicy, fall off the bone tender and did I mention fast!

We loves ours. Makes some awesome homemade mac n cheese in like 5 min.

Thats what I was thinking. I guess if the time savings was a big enough issue this would be worth the counter real estate. I do a good bit of food browning and do a covered dutch oven for similar outcome but not as fast for sure. My Cast Iron dutch oven (LeCreuset 15qt) (Lodge 16qt) does the braising and put a lid on her and your off to the races at 425ish. I reckon either would get you there...and it can be healthful ingredients as you are the cook!

I have thought an Instapot could be useful but my wife already enough appliances she doesn't use. I should do an inventory.

I have 3 crockpots, one over 40 years old and still going strong.

I'm afraid electronic gadgets today have built in failure. I've replaced coffee makers 5 times in the last 6 years. Just don't trust 'em.

You are basically braising the ribs in the instant pot that is why they are coming out so tender. I have been know to braise ribs in the oven with white wine, vinegar, honey and few other things for about 2 hours before moving them to smoker. They come out nice and tender.

I don't have one I am with @Miss Lily I have no room for more kitchen gadgets unless they are going to get a lot of use. I have too much single use stuff already. I do have a few friends who wear by them. Personally I am too frigidity a cook to use one. I have to poke prod look taste while cooking so they might not work for me anyway.

It is basically using the Texas Crutch in reverse. Except you miss out on all the joys of the smokes fumes, beers and manly grunts.

Yup even braise in alum foil. I still grunt because you know its ribs.

I'd also add that it is very difficult to add the depth of flavors you get by barbecuing or smoking meat in an oven, crockpot or Instapot. I've been to many barbecue restaurants that cook meat perfectly as far as tenderness and moistness goes, but they lack the flavors of slowed cooked food over hardwood or charcoal. Even my 12 year old comments on how she doesn't want the stuffed peppers from the oven anymore. They taste much better when I do them on the Green Egg.

But sometimes at 7pm you have sacrifice flavor for speed and suck it up. We've all been there.

This is definitely a time saver. I’m a fan of grilling and smoking meats. I was born and raised in Lexington when all of the BBQ restaurants still Hickory smoked their pork.

I finally broke down and got an Instant Pot this weekend. I have been looking at them for quite a while. Pretty good sale so I pulled the trigger. So far I have hard boiled eggs and made brown rice. Tonight I'm trying an eye of round roast with carrots and potatoes. It's a good day for some feel good food.

Used ours once. I dont trust pressure vessels in the kitchen. Cooked with it on the deck. Cant even remember what we cooked. It was good but if something is supposed to be cooked low and slow, thats how i want to do it.

I love ours. Chili, soups, bone broth, pork roast, whole pulled chicken.

Ribs go in the smoker....lol.

Wife got one for her birthday. She made some Carnitas for authentic style tacos with onion, radish, cilantro and and some cheese that were just insane.

miss lily...we're with you on that.

here's our bottom line: an instapot is a fast crock pot.
we are willing to wait because we don't want to
Spend Any More Money On Something Else.

our crock pot is FINE.
just like Windows 7 is FINE.
instapot and W10 can WAIT.

Pork Tenderloin with gravy, California blend veggies, and roasted garlic and olive oil couscous, that's what we had for dinner.

This is the best thing since sliced bread..It makes meals fast and that's real important to two old folks like us that work long hours but are still raising grand kids..
