If I did an eform, will they email you when there is any update to your application? Like, will they email stating youve been approved or anything?

Secondly, once approved, can you then go get your items engraved, or need to wait until it physically comes back in the mail?

You can engrave your items years in advance. It has nothing to do with the approval.

You’ll get an approval email. The PDF will be attached with the digital stamp. (If you’re using an iDevice, it won’t show up attached in the default mail app)

So they don't send you z real physical stamp when you efile?
Nope. No paper form coming with a real stamp. It’s a shame, because that’s really your receipt for the tax paid. It’s also why there’s a theory out there that EForms approvals don’t meet the federal requirement (since it mentions stamp being affixed to paper).

Thanks, again, BW!
Question - what has to be engraved on the weapon?

Question - what has to be engraved on the weapon?
1. Registered name
2. City and state where firearm is made
3. Model
4. Caliber
5. Serial number

In general, that means a Maker only has to add #1 & #2...as you’ll adopt the SN and Model (if applicable) from the original manufacturer, and caliber is usually already engraved as well. 1-4 have to be on the frame, receiver, barrel or pistol slide. 5 has to be on the frame or receiver.

The only time most people have to engrave the caliber is on an AR where the lower is marked “multi” and the barrel isn’t marked...which generally only happens if you’ve chopped down a longer barrel and lost the markings in the process.

#1 should match the F1
#2 doesn’t have to, although it usually does (your mailing address is on the F1, but if you drove over to a different city to convert it from a pistol to an SBR, then that location is actually what’s supposed to get engraved)
