hey all, looking for some advice on how to fix this issue. I've put several hundred rounds through a PSA AR that I put together and was extremely impressed with it. A few weeks ago I took it to the range and had 6 FTE on all 6 shots. I used 2 different magazines with 2 types of ammo on those 6 shots, then put it away thinking it might need a good cleaning.

Fast forward to yesterday. Same issue with 4 different magazines, 556 vs 223 didn't matter. I started swapping parts like BCG with another PSA AR pistol that works like a champ and still had the same issue.

I think I've narrowed it down to gas, but no clue how to check or tweak/repair this part. Any help would be appreciated.

What do you mean when you say that you put it together?

Like Jerzsubbie mentioned, check the gas block, tube and alignment

Post a picture of the whole thing if you want. Maybe take a picture from looking down at the barrel towards the gas block

I had the same issue on one after I had the barrel Cerakoted. Guy didn't get the gas blocked aligned and tightened properly when he reassembled it.

Hopefully it's that simple for you.

I took a few pics.

These screws are loose. How tight should they be? Should I get out the red Loctite?

Wow. Gas is def the issue. Block should be up against the shoulder instead of 1/4” off it. You’re not getting any gas like it is. Move it back and tighten it down. Looks like the barrel is already dimpled for the screws. Double check alignment though and make sure it all looks lined up.

Well damn! There’s your problem right there. Haha

Yes use some red loctite on the screws. The barrel is already dimpled well, which is nice. If it comes loose again, find someone with a jig and pin it.

Wait, is that a hole or a dimple just peeking from under the gas block?

If it’s a hole, contact PSA because that is not normal, if it’s a dimple then you’re good to just re seat the gas block and tighten up the screws, I would highly suggest a bit of blue loc-tite on both screws so this doesn’t happen again.

Yep, hole would be on the other side, that is a dimple for the screw.

Easy fix!

I think I see the problem ;)
