That's true. I'll probably take it off. I'm thinking of painting the stock Rhodesian camo too

No doubt. One fine September day on the range, aka. SPENDEX, they had us doing mag dump after mag dump on burst. Sanity finally prevailed when one of the German officers had a round cook off in the mag (nothing spectacular, other than the lower receiver being a little over 1/8" wider than normal), but our M16A2s were so hot that the front sling swivel was melting the sling.

A1: Brownells stripped upper and lower. A1 sight kit from Amherst, Aero lower kit. Teardrop forward assist from Brownells. Barrel assembly and vintage Colt furniture from retro rifles
A2: LMT upper and Aero lower. Stag arms buttstock. A2 rear sight assembly from Amherst. Aero lower kit. Upper assembly from Windam Weaponry.

Here is an assembly I did after taking advantage of Black Friday deals in 2015. Had no problems ringing steel @ 400 yds in the AAS matches at FLD in Warrenton. I scavenged parts for other builds and it has been sitting incomplete since middle of 2016 (until today).

I have a set of Coyote (pictured on my 12.5 above the MK18) and it may end up on this rifle. I traded a single 33rd glock mag for this stock and grip so just messing around with it for the fun of it.

I *think* the one I have is darker because it's that military contract version overrun that Brownells had. Maybe not, might just be the lighting.

Krylon camo is great, Rust-Oleum Specialty Camouflage aerosol is just as good and the high spot/ traffic areas wear the same
