AR10 1-4 ok?

Is a 1-4 scope with lighted, reticle suitable for an AR10 in .308? The reticle calibrations are geared towards .223 (I thought .223 and .308 drops are pretty close).

Primary use is range work out to 300yds with the possibility of a hog or white tail... Although hunting is less likely. Side note my vision is excellent at something like 20/15 or better.

Alternative is to drop a variable, higher power scope using a good mount on top of it.

I put a Burris XTR II 1.5-8x on mine for deer season. Never went past 4x other than fooling around.


That said....for range work, I go to 8x all the time for 3-500yds

For hunting, a 1x4 is a good choice for out to 300 yards. If you feel the need, get some QD mounts and have 2 scopes set ups, one for hunting, and one for long range target use.
